PHI MU LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested 4090 News T he Alpha Eta house is a place for connections and personal development, something that Dr. Elise Dasinger '08 fondly remembers from her own collegiate years. Thinking back to her time as an undergraduate, Elise appreciated the safety of the house and now supports Alpha Eta's renovation efforts so future sisters can enjoy a similar experience. A Home on Campus "Being in Phi Mu meant I had others to form connections with," Elise said, appreciating the chance to build new relationships. While she initially didn't know many people at LSU, Alpha Eta helped Elise find a place to fit in and have mutual support of sisters. Serving as house manager, Elise gained a better understanding of Chapter House operations and how members get the chance to live-in. Elise also had a stint as ritual chairman, helping coordinate initiation and various other events. Life Beyond College After graduating from LSU, Elise attended pharmacy school at Auburn and even served as student body president for the college of pharmacy. She credits her positions within Phi Mu for helping adapt to leadership opportunities. "They prepared me in a way to be organized and oversee different things—that has served me well." Currently, she works as a pharmacist at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Supporting the Sisterhood When Elise became a mother to two young daughters, she further recognized the importance of the Chapter House in her earliest adult years. Elise sees Alpha Eta's renovation campaign as her chance to honor the sisterhood and support today's sisters. "The Phi Mu house was always somewhere that even when I didn't live there, I always had a meal to eat—we had three meals a day, five days a week—it removed stress and eased me into adult life. Ultimately, it was where I felt safe." Elise recalls the beautiful lakeside view from her room in the Chapter House, and she is proud to have naming rights for it. "It's kind of where big decisions happened in my life. It overlooks the front porch, and I recall sitting out there when I decided I'd go to pharmacy school." Renovation efforts take more than just one donor, and Elise hopes fellow alumnae can reflect on their Phi Mu experience as they consider a campaign contribution. You can connect with Elise and talk about supporting Alpha Eta at elisedasinger@gmail.com. Comfort on Campus Why Elise Dasinger '08 Supports Renovation Efforts "I'm excited for future Phi Mus to enjoy the house and enjoy the renovations as much as we did."
