The Duck call Page 2 GROWING STRONGER The chapter entered the year with roughly 170 members, the third largest of all fraternities on campus and the most of any DU chapter in North America. Strong spring semester performances in grades and philanthropy along with extensive member participation in leadership programming over the summer positions the chapter for future success! MAKING THE GRADE The spring semester finished with a 3.27 GPA for the chapter, which was above the all-men's and all-fraternity averages. The chapter had 71 members make the dean's list, the third most of all fraternities on campus. DUIF LEADERSHIP PROGRAMMING Nine undergraduate members attended the Delta Upsilon Leadership Institute from July 28-30 in Kansas City. The chapter was recognized for recruiting 55 new members in 2022-23, one of the largest of any chapter in North America. We were excited to cheer on our alumni award recipients, Jeff Kreutz '99 (Advisor of the Year) and Bob Doyle '71 (Merit Award in Entertainment), and to meet many of our local alumni at the reception. (Read more about their awards on page 1!) Earlier in the summer, Jack Brennan '26 and Luke Higgins '26 attended the Delta Upsilon Emerging Leaders conference. DUEL is an intensive one-week leadership course consisting of about 30 undergraduates from across North America and held at Williams College in Massachusetts, where the first DU chapter was founded. BIGGER AND BETTER Our summer and formal recruitment program resulted in the signing of 40 new associate members. The average GPA of 3.8 may have been the highest in our history and is well above the university average for incoming students. Special thanks to VP of Recruitment Mark Scott '25 and his team for a job well done! Please drop by if you are ever in Columbia; we would love to see you! Our goal is to have a CLP of roughly $300,000, which would fund 25 scholarships and one chapter retreat each year. Donor receptions were held in St. Louis in April and at the Leadership Institute in Kansas City in July to gauge initial interest. THERE'S STILL TIME TO CONTRIBUTE! Thus far, the response has been encouraging. In fact, initial pledges of nearly $100,000 have been received! Communications will be coming your way as we build to the campaign's close on June 30, 2024. In the meantime, you can visit deltau.org/ignitethecharge for additional information. I am honored to serve as the campaign chairman and would be happy to engage with you personally. Fraternally, E.
