Sisters Enjoy a Rewarding Academic Year Sisters Enjoy a Rewarding Academic Year That's a Wrap! That's a Wrap! D uring a busy 2022-23, Epsilon Iota received many recognitions and awards for our hard work! A FABULOUS FALL Our sisters enjoyed an eventful and exciting fall semester. We covered a lot of those events in our winter edition (find it at tinyurl.com/ W23NotesfromMizKD), but here's a quick recap! • Placed fifth overall in Homecoming • Recruited 87 new members • Participated in spirit week • Raised $6,886 during Confidence Week • Participated in events like Marriage Party, a hayride at Burr Oak Brewery, a trip to FearFest, and our first Halloween-themed date party • Celebrated our 125th Founders Day • Hosted our annual formal event, Emerald Ball, at Serenity Valley Winery • Sophia Fine '21 and Hannah Krievlow '21 hosted our annual Challah Bake • Achieved a 3.5 GPA and ranked fifth in grades • Elected our new Governing Council A SUCCESSFUL SPRING Our sisters kept the momentum going during this year's Greek Week, paired with Alpha Gamma Rho, Kappa Alpha Order, and Delta Kappa Epsilon. We placed fifth overall in most categories, including public relations and Fling. We won the Fling award for Best Actor in Skit and tied for first with Kappa Alpha Theta in the Blood Drive and second in Banner. Mizzou's theme was Battle of the Bands, and our pairing theme was The Rolling Stones. KEEPING BUSY WITH PHILANTHROPY In February, we participated in Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis for the first time as an organization with two of our members, Evelyn Trampe '19 and Aubrey Herrin '21, on the RAMS Steering Committee. As a chapter, we participated in the Rock It lip-sync and dance competition, RAMS 5K run, trivia night (where we placed first), and speaker night, where we learned about the importance of MS research and support for RAMS beneficiaries. Overall, Mizzou RAMS raised $200,700 for the MS Institute of Mid-Missouri! Epsilon Iota also participated in several other philanthropy events, including Confidence Week, where we held a lemonade stand, button booth, and late-night dinner. We raised $6,384 for Rainbow House and PCAA, bringing us to a total of $13,270 for the year! A FULL SOCIAL CALENDAR Sisters enjoyed our annual semi-formal Crush Party at Harpo's on February 23 and our Marriage Party with our same Greek Week partners on March 21 at MyHouse. We also hosted a puppy yoga event and axe throwing event during finals week. Last was a Senior Prom held at MyHouse on May 2 where we celebrated our graduating seniors with a formal date party. ACADEMICS AND ACCOLADES We had 167 members on the dean's list with a 3.4 GPA, ranking eighth out of the Panhellenic sororities. On May 1, we were awarded the Mizzou Student Involvement Award for Risk Management and Excellence by the Mizzou Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. This highlighted our chapter's commitment to safe and accessible events and environments consistently provided to our members! GETTING READY FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER By May 15, we had completely moved out of 606 Rollins Street so the renovation process could begin. Our vice president of recruitment and marketing, Tori Fischer '21, and vice president of learning and development, Megan Gerloff '21, have gone above and beyond in their efforts to plan recruitment and Bid Day for the fall at a completely different chapter house. While constantly communicating with House Director Marit Vogelsong and making many trips up to our alternative housing at 507 Rollins Street, they have spent countless hours planning and adjusting traditions while keeping the spark of our sisterhood alive. We are grateful to have the opportunity to reside in an alternate facility, and while change can bring uncertainties at times, our council is working hard to make the very best of these changes and create a wonderful environment to welcome the 2023 pledge class this fall. As many alumnae know, our sisterhood cannot be bound strictly within the walls of 606 Rollins Street; it extends past brick and mortar and into our post-graduation lives as an idea and a feeling of home rather than a place. This boundless sisterhood, which was an idea our founding president Ann Moore Proscino believed in so deeply, has been carried down from generation to generation in our Epsilon Iota Chapter. Without our house, we are still a sorority, but without our sisters, we would have no home. We are beyond thrilled for what the future of our chapter will hold and are so grateful for our reliable sisterhood in a year of change with much excitement ahead! Love in AOT, Gwen Morovitz '20 Chapter President
