MGM+ presents the Mike Nichols-directed 1988 comedy Thursday, Aug. 31, with Griffith as a New York secretary who aspires to be more. Her candor frequently gets in the way of her aims, which she gets a fresh chance to attain when she goes to work for a self-involved boss (a wonderfully hilarious Sigourney Weaver). A skiing accident puts Boss Lady out of commission, giving Griffith's character the op- portunity to mount a deal involving a sale of radio stations – and also involving a down-on- his-luck broker (Harrison Ford) who provides Griffith with a new chance at romance beyond her philandering boyfriend (Alec Baldwin). Smart, tremendous fun throughout, the picture also boasts a Carly Simon music score that features the Oscar-winning "Let the River Run."
