THE DELTA NUS 3 I n the words of Bob Dylan, the times, they are a-changing! The task of managing this grand new chapter house has many facets that require time, expertise, and attention. To mention a few, fire protection devices need to be regularly tested and safety compliance reports filed, rent needs to be collected and accounted for, operating expenses need to be paid, room security deposits must be handled and returned according to ND statutes, tax returns need to be prepared and filed, unexpected repairs need to be promptly resolved, routine house upkeep must be systematically addressed, lawns need mowing, and snow needs to be removed. These are just some of the tasks of the landlord! Your alumni board made the decision last year to look at outside resources to assist in handling responsibilities that had become increasingly burdensome and, in some cases, beyond the boundaries of our knowledge. Since then, we have been working with a well-respected Grand Forks property management firm, Dakota Commercial. While they manage many commercial rental facilities and condo associations, providing property management services to a fraternity house was new to them. Over the past several months and following numerous meetings with them, we have entered into a property management contract with Dakota Commercial to iron out the responsibilities and reporting requirements. The contract became effective on July 1, 2023. Their prior experience should ensure that things get done properly and on time. For now, the alumni board and chapter are looking forward to this new partnership and the expertise that Dakota Commercial brings to the table. Welcome, Dakota Commercial We've Hired a Property Management Firm We've Hired a Property Management Firm New Members We initiated 16 new members from our recent fall and spring pledge classes. This allowed us to double our membership during the 2022-23 school year. We are expecting to grow even more in the coming semesters. Intramurals This year, we became active in intramurals once again. In the fall, Jacob Waldrop '22 was crowned intramural tennis champion. The brothers also formed a hockey team in the spring. The team made it to the semifinals but fell short of the championship game. We expect to challenge hockey supremacy again in 2024! The Big Event During the spring, members participated in the Big Event, which is the largest volunteering day on campus. During the event, brothers helped clean up the yards of people who live in the community. Greeks Helping Greeks This spring, Delta Nu participated in several philanthropy events for other Greek houses, helping them raise money for their respective organizations. One large one on campus is Alpha Chi Omega's Mock Rock. For this, the brothers were given coaches from AXO and learned a song and dance to perform. The brothers learned the routine over a couple of weeks before performing in the Chester Fritz Auditorium. Tickets were sold, and the proceeds went to the CVIC in Grand Forks. Exchanges In addition to supporting philanthropy events, we held socials with other Greek chapters to further extend our relationships in the Greek community, allowing us to build positive and healthy relationships between the different chapters. This coming school year, we plan to stay active within the Greek community, expand our membership, and welcome alumni back for the 100-year celebration. We plan to make it a wonderful weekend for our alumni brothers! Benn Bonebrake, Joe Schuster '22, and the rest of the intramural hockey team circle up between periods. Delta Nus show their support for Greek life by performing in Alpha Chi Omega's Mock Rock.
