Celebrate the United States
Constitution on September 17
The United States Constitution is the
supreme law of the land. Every action
taken by people, business and the
government must follow the laws set
forth in the Constitution's Amendments.
The First Amendment (that means
addition) to the Constitution protects
five important freedoms for Americans.
We the People of the United States,
in Order to form a more perfect Union,
establish Justice, insure domestic
Tranquility, provide for the common
defense, promote the general Welfare,
and secure the Blessings of Liberty to
ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain
and establish this Constitution for the
United States of America.

The government cannot establish an
official religion of the United States. The
First Amendment allows U.S. citizens to
practice religion the way they want.
People in the United States have the right
to speak their opinions, even if they don't
agree with the government. But if
someone is telling a crowd to kill people
or do other violence, that person's right to
speak may be challenged and taken away.
