B eta Sigma had a busy spring semester! The chapter participated in informal recruitment (COB) earlier in the year, and we were thrilled to welcome a new initiate at the end of the semester. LEADING WITH LOVE This semester, we created a new cabinet position: mental health and wellness chairman. We are hoping that this new position, filled by sophomore Ivy Wooster '22, will promote the importance of prioritizing good mental health in college. Vice President of Philanthropy Macy Lips '21 organized a very successful philanthropy event, Sweet Like SK! Through this event, our chapter raised around $4,500 for the Sigma Kappa Foundation. We also had an incredibly fun sisterhood retreat planned by Sisterhood Chairman Justine Hinkley '21, which involved games and building flower bouquets. EDUCATION COMES FIRST Our sisters pride themselves on being academically focused and driven, and we want to highlight some of these members. Tess Micheli '21 was accepted into the Purdue PharmD program, Caroline Thomas '21 and alumna Carly Fridlin '18 were accepted to publish their research paper in systems engineering, and Clare O'Brien '20 will be participating in a yearlong co-op for landscape architecture. Additionally, Elise Renschler '19 will be working as a software engineering analyst and Bridget Sweeney '19 will be working as a business technology analyst. A good reflection of Beta Sigma's successes this semester can be seen from our semesterly chapter report from Purdue Panhellenic. Our chapter GPA increased from last semester and is above both the Panhellenic and all-women averages! Our average service hours per member is twice the Panhellenic average. SISTERHOOD CONTINUES We want to recognize the 28 sisters who graduated or obtained alumnae status this semester and thank them for their time and commitment to growing and developing our chapter. We had an absolute blast celebrating the 75th anniversary of our chapter and can't wait for all that next semester has to offer!
