The 1973 adventure directed by Bond veteran Guy Hamilton ("Goldfinger") typically takes the Ian Fleming-created hero on a globe-hopping mission, but he spends quite a bit of time in America, notably in New York – where his main lead on the deaths of several other agents is a United Nations diplomat (Yaphet Kotto). The latter relies on a medium named Solitaire for guidance, and that role marked a major career move for Jane Seymour, quite convincing as a romantic interest for Moore despite the considerable age difference between them. Also notable in the cast is David Hedison as Bond's CIA pal Felix Leiter (he would reprise the part later opposite Timothy Dalton's Bond in "Licence to Kill").
