I llinois Delta Upsilon's spring 2023 semester had a significant influence on the Chapter. We recruited 19 new members to complete the graduating class of 2026, and we added four new brothers to the '26.5s! This Chapter has a promising future, and we intend to maintain it by adding more '27s to our membership this fall. This will provide us with more room to expand, as COVID limitations no longer pose a barrier. Alumni Connections Homecoming was quite successful. The turnout of alumni was amazing to see! The planning for the event was worth the endless laughs and stories shared over the weekend, and we always look forward to it. Thank you to all the DU alumni who donated both at the Homecoming event and over this past semester as well as those who were able to attend Homecoming weekend to visit and connect with our Chapter. We really appreciate everything you guys do to help the Chapter out; the return of DU alumni is always such an exciting time of year. Delta Upsilon Illinois wouldn't be where it is without everyone's continued generosity and support of the Chapter. Active Chapter Efforts Many upperclassmen will continue their academic pursuits over the summer. One of our DUs is still working for NASA, and another brother studied abroad at the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico to explore Mayan culture. In the fall, DU brothers came together to make an improvement to the Illinois Chapter House for the greater good and for the experience of future Chapter brothers. The project was to redesign and paint our basketball court (which was previously just simple concrete with painted lines, having nothing to show the campus that it belonged to Delta Upsilon). Organized by Drew Daly '25.5, DUs helped restore the court to its former glory and made it look nicer than ever before. Drew came up with the idea to charge brothers $5 to sign their name and commitment class year anywhere on the court in classic "old gold" to raise money through this endeavor. After the painting project was completed, a barbecue was enjoyed by all to celebrate a project well done. We're grateful to brother Daly. Future generations of DU Illinois brothers will always remember this gift to our Chapter House. All in all, DU Illinois is still proactive both educationally and socially. We plan to continue growing our brotherhood as we set the precedent for years to come. Fraternally, Jacob Wolf '25 Chapter President From left: Max Schemmel '25, Jacob Wolf '25, Andy Ingraffia '25, Isai Bailon '25, and Drew Ganley '25 attend the DU Regional Leadership Academy in Chicago during a weekend in February. These men volunteered to represent our executive board at this honorable event, and we greatly appreciate them for all they do. Brothers Ben Loo '26, Drew Daly '25.5, and Jack Sheridan '26 can be seen working on the repainting process for the DU basketball court this past fall.
