12 | r e d f c u.o r g Redstone's 2023 Scholarship Recipients For its 27th year, Redstone's Scholarship Program is helping members reach their higher education goals. In May, Redstone announced $89,000 in scholarships to 22 members who have been accepted or are attending an accredited college or university. Students received up to $5,000 each, which is paid directly to their college or university. Seven of the 22 scholarships were awarded to a student working in each of Redstone's student- run high school branches. Alex Paduch, Middle Tennessee State University, is majoring in computer science and enjoys weightlifting and cooking. Alison Billeci, Athens State University, is pursuing a degree in psychology and loves spending time outdoors. Andrea Torres, University of Alabama in Birmingham, is majoring in genetics and looks forward to working as a genetics research assistant at UAB. Arthur Celeste Joy, J.F. Drake State Community & Technical College, is completing an associate degree and plans to become a marine biologist. Ashleigh Denton, Calhoun Community College, plans to study art education and teach pour painting classes. Austen Johnson, Alabama A&M University, has served as a student wildland firefighter and wants to become a conservation officer. Charlie Kidder, Northeast Alabama Community College, plans to major in computer science and enjoys art and music. Emily Eslick, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is majoring in neuroscience and enjoys cheering on the Vols. SCHOOLS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS Andrew Carlson, James Clemons High School Branch, will attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Ashley Morgan, Bob Jones High School Branch, will attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Camryn Garner, Hazel Green High School Branch, will attend the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Derrick Nichols, Austin High School Branch, will attend the University of South Alabama. Ellis Dickman, Decatur High School Branch, will attend Mississippi State University. Haily Southerland, Blackman High School Branch, will attend Middle Tennessee State University. Evelyn Torstenson, University of Alabama in Huntsville, plans to major in engineering while continuing to participate in dance and musical theater. Faith Lloyd, University of Alabama, plans to study architectural engineering and enjoys interior design and dance. Kathryn Lancaster, Samford University, plans to major in graphic design and enjoys painting, baking, and reading. Kelsey Reid, Oakwood University, is interested in business and music and hopes to sing with the internationally recognized Aeolians choir. Laila Cribbs, Rhode Island School of Design, is majoring in film, animation, and video and loves to create art that inspires others. Mason Baxley, Harding University, plans to become an engineer and participate in service and mission opportunities.
