I ndiana Alpha Chapter had a remarkable year in terms of achievements, academics, philanthropy, campus involvement, events, and more. From winning awards from national headquarters to participating in various community service projects, the brothers have been excelling across campus and working to become more balanced men through their accomplishments. One of the biggest achievements of the fraternity was when Luke Muckerheide '25 was selected for Tragos Quest to Greece. Luke is now a Tragos Scholar and will be attending the Quest over the summer of 2023. The chapter was also given the Excelsior Award for Recruitment Excellence by national headquarters, which recognize the fraternity's exceptional recruitment efforts in fall 2022. The chapter recruited 19 men during that semester, doubling its size. This semester, our chapter performed well academically and achieved a 3.46 cumulative GPA, which was .26 above the IFC average and .32 above the all-men average. The fraternity was ranked second overall in the IFC. In terms of philanthropy, we hosted the Canes and Canines event with AOII, raising an impressive $2,632, which was split between Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America and Natalie's Second Chance Animal Shelter. We also completed 638 community service hours, demonstrating our commitment to giving back to the community. The chapter was successful in its social endeavors this year. Indiana Alpha hosted a spring formal with an attendance of around 100. Throughout the semester, we focused on building a strong brotherhood through events such as a ski trip and various socials with other organizations on campus. We started branching out and hosting events with other fraternities and sororities, including a housewarming for FSCL executives, dinners with KD and AGD, and a philanthropy event with AOII. Indiana Alpha made promising moves in its pursuit of becoming an accredited learning community. One example is that we attained two faculty fellows: Dr. Peter Moore and Dr. Timothy Whalen. The fraternity grew to 50-plus members and started inhabiting the chapter home, which will be ready to move in come August. The fraternity's success was recognized when Josh Ling '23 was nominated by Purdue's IFC as Best IFC President. Heading into summer, freshman brother Jordan Hindes '26 will be attending Ruck Leadership Institute. Jordan is an aspiring leader and a promising example of the direction the fraternity is going. Overall, Indiana Alpha had an exceptional academic year and achieved significant success in all areas. The fraternity members are proud of their accomplishments and will continue to strive for excellence in the future.
