Spring 2023 HCB Update I would like to thank the active chapter and our large alumni donor list for continued support of the capital campaign! While the major construction project has been completed, there is still a ~$1.2M out- standing balance to the mortgage that continued support will help pay down in a timely manner. The Housing Corporation Board is not quite in vacation mode yet. The team is still working hard on a planned maintenance schedule so that we can effectively budget capital for future improve- ments. We are using our new preventative maintenance contract with Sycamore Engineering to monitor our assets. We also have many active projects still ongoing at the house during the fall and into the Summer of '23. We are working on a new chapter room floor that will be more durable (and easier to clean), new doors between the living space and the chapter room and investigating new doors for the upper and lower rear exits. There have been other growing pains with HVAC that we have set processes in place to ensure we capture learn- ings from issues that have arisen. We also had some housekeeping items to clean up on the administrative side. We have updated the HCB bylaws to incorporate new processes and duties of the board, updated the housing contract for the actives to live in the house, and created a capital fund project checklist and procedures to ensure we are appropriately using the hard-earned donations that you all are providing. We have created a house manager orientation guide, and a playbook to ensure success with each new House Manager transition. Lastly, we have a new HCB member. Please welcome Dal- ton Andrew ('22) who many of you remember as the active House Manager and Vice President during the chaotic and busy time of plan- ning and construction during the capital campaign. It is through his leadership that the construction was a success. We are excited to have him become an integral part of the HCB.
