ALPHA GAMMA DELTA 5 A lpha Gamma Delta provides us with a sisterhood united by our values. That means lifelong friends and relationships— sometimes even professional connections and colleagues! Casey Rogers '10 has continued to meet fellow Alpha Gams in her adult life and career, but never did she expect to work for one as prominent as Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, Auburn '64. "It's a great honor to serve for someone I admire as much as Governor Ivey, but it's even more special knowing she's a fellow Alpha Gam with a similar background," Casey said. "She embodies high ideals and is a daily reminder of what living the AGD Purpose looks like in action." THE AGD PURPOSE Casey's favorite part of joining Psi Chapter was the opportunity for friendships in every pledge class and beyond. Her dearest friendships include Psi sisters of all ages. One of them, Fay Smith Poole '77, was a major influence in her choice. "As a high school senior, I knew very little about sorority life, but I greatly admired Miss Fay and the stories she shared about her time at the University. Because of her, I've met many alumnae with whom I probably wouldn't have crossed paths, and the friendships have been a true blessing." Psi Chapter held Casey to the high standards that she already gained from her parents, and her fellow sisters encouraged her to go above and beyond, both academically and professionally. She worked hard as pledge class president and director of sisterhood but made sure to have fun with her sisters along the way. Casey was fortunate to live in the old sorority house for two and a half years, followed by the new house for a semester. "Both of them will always hold special places in my heart." WORKING WITH OTHERS Early in her career, Casey was a communications director for a rural electric cooperative. She later moved into governmental affairs roles with former U.S. Representative Martha Roby as well as the Alabama Farmers Federation. In 2017, Casey was honored with the Darryl Gates Communicator of the Year Award by the Alabama Rural Electric Association—a goal years in the making— surrounded by her co-op friends and family. As external affairs director for the Office of the Governor, Casey serves as the federal liaison to the Ivey administration, meaning she works alongside fellow cabinet members and serves as the point of contact for state constitutional offices, municipalities, counties, and other domestic and foreign entities. "In every role, I've come to find my most memorable highlights revolve around the people I've met along the way," she said. "With Governor Ivey, I'm afforded the opportunity to meet with anyone from state, federal, and foreign leaders." SISTERS FOREVER Casey still keeps up with tons of pledge sisters through group texts and has spent the last decade as a recruitment volunteer with Psi Chapter; she was also the chapter's marketing advisor for five years. She crosses paths with many more Psi sisters in her day-to-day life as well. "I had no idea when I pledged that Alpha Gam would be so interwoven in my life, and I'm thankful for that." Know your purpose and don't deviate from that." Advice to sisters: "Don't waste too much time worrying. I think we oftentimes slip into that, whether it be in our careers or personal lives. If you're a person of faith, which I am, I think it all happens in God's timing. Be patient in the process of getting where you wanted to go."
