Maintaining our No. l Phi Delta eta chapter spot for Iron Phi and continuing great relations with UGA through our on-campus involvement and academics have led this to be our most successful year during my tenure at the University of Georgia. e big picture goals of our executive board this year have included big pushes to focus on increasing new member buy-in, getting the underclassmen more involved, generating more feedback from parents and brothers, and making the incremental improvements we know compound over time. is has been spearheaded by Declan Cleaver #2599, who has taken and ran with the executive and surrounding committees. Our chapter has grown in many ways over the past year, starting with welcoming a pledge class of 41 new members thanks to the help of Sawyer Elrod #1614 and his recruitment team. We have also maintained our philanthropic involvement in the Athens community through our Adopt-a-Family program led by Hector Padilla #2633. Our brothers are given the opportunity to bond through brotherhood events such as athletics and other competitions thanks to the hard work of Jack Liskey #2616. Overall, I am more than impressed with the diligence of the current executive board and very appreciative of the groundwork laid by the previous executive board, led by Reed Stout #2538. We continue to improve in every facet and 1 can gladly say I am learning something new every day in my role as president. I am looking forward to the rest of the year and the challenges to come. Proud to be a Phi. Recruitment Chairman Sawyer Elrod #2614 Recruitment this summer exceeded expectations. e process started early, and potential new members (PNMs) began visiting late in the spring semester. e yearly spring paid(?) thrown at the chapter house was the first large event where these men were able to familiarize themselves with the brothers and the facility. e first month of the summer moved at a slower pace than the following two. is was mainly due to not being able to use the house. Events during this time were hosted at off-campus houses and were primarily for young men who had been recommended by active members. Due to the smaller numbers at this point, the recruitment team and I were able to spend a lot of one-on-one time with those who attended. e recruitment process really picked up once we moved into the chapter house. Incoming student orientation started around this time and the number of potential members in Athens steadily increased. I was very busy the summer before I came to UGA, so I wasn't able to experience many summer recruitment events. However, this summer I was involved in hosting events nearly every weekend. ese were designed to make PNMs feel welcome and also for us to gauge how well they would fit in with our chapter. Events included our yearly rafting trip, a low country shrimp boil, and a band party featuring Avery Deakins Band. Formal recruitment provided us with an opportunity to meet out-of-state members who were not able to attend events previously during the summer. We hosted several events this week and tabled at the Tate Student Center to touch base with as many PNMs as possible. e final events of the summer were solely for new members so that they could begin to bond with their future pledge brothers. We are all very pleased with the recruitment success this summer. With the help of Connor Jensen #2604, Luis Salkeld #2612, Reid Robertson #2613, Noah Smith #2620, and Johnny Anton #2628, we added 41 impressive young men to our chapter. Vice President Declan Cleaver #2599 Another year, another win for the Georgia Bulldogs. What a time to be at UGA! With back-to-back national championships under our belts and our campus getting more and more national recognition, there has never been a better time to be a Dawg. Hopefully, we three-peat next year and we can continue to cement UGA as one of the nation's greats. Settling into the vice president position has been a completely different tenure to my role as secretary; however, I am proud to say we are truly expanding the VP's position and role within our chapter under my leadership. One of the biggest successes of our executive board so far has been the implementation of the "committee" system, where we aim to get more buy-in from our freshman brothers by establishing committees to support each executive position. ese committees include executive, secretarial, brotherhood, financial, Pallas, social, and judicial. All of these are headed up by their respective e-board members, and all report directly to the vice president with any concerns or help in facilitating discussion. ese committees have greatly Chapter Updates Continued on page 4
