Your Help Is Requested • 3 • SigmaPhiEpsilon TheSigEpTigerHeart Denny, Braden Bond '25, and Dennis Bond Jr. '93 proudly attend the Missouri Alpha rechartering celebration. A s a passionate alumnus and supporter of Missouri Alpha, Denny Bond '69 was overjoyed to see the brotherhood regain its charter last year. He learned about leadership and gained lasting friendships through SigEp and continues to live by the Cardinal Principles of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love. He's excited to share that passion for SigEp with his fellow 1960s brothers this fall. Denny is chairman of the committee for Missouri Alpha's "Decade of the '60s" reunion, which will gather in Columbia over the weekend of September 9-11. For months, the committee has been hard at work making plans and contacting as many '60s brothers as possible—some of whom Denny hasn't seen in decades. "For a lot of the group, this will be their first time back in Columbia in over 60 years," Denny shared. "We are currently planning for campus tours, trips to old hangouts, and mainly just getting together and talking about old times and how things are going. The stories and memories alone will make the trip worthwhile." As an undergraduate, Denny was a recruitment chairman for several years, helping bring in a pledge class of over 40 members one summer. Denny is thankful to many brothers A BROTHERHOOD WORTH PRESERVING Denny Bond '69 Looks Forward to '60s Reunion " The stories and memories alone will make the trip worthwhile. " for guiding him through his SigEp journey, such as Rich Wiley '65 and Bob Fleming '64, who made Denny's decision to join easy. "The chapter was not the largest fraternity on campus, but it was the best fit for me." Denny also thanks his best friend, John Hartman '61, for helping him get involved with the fraternity on the state, regional, and national levels. Denny went on to serve as Grand Chapter President and is a humble recipient of the Order of the Golden Heart. As the reunion approaches, Denny urges brothers from other eras to form their own reunions, get together in Columbia, and see how well the recolonized Missouri Alpha is doing. He also hopes alumni will encourage their legacies to consider SigEp where possible. Denny, for instance, is proud to share SigEp with son Dennis Jr. '93 and grandson Braden '25; both are active participants in the fraternity as well. Denny lives in Columbia and retired in 2021 from a lengthy career in the hospitality industry. He loves spending time with family and attending sporting events, especially Mizzou and the St. Louis Cardinals. "I cannot stress enough how grateful I was to learn the meaning of the fraternity, especially under the leadership of the national organization in Richmond, Virginia," he said. "I hope our current group of undergraduate members will have those opportunities." SUMMER RECRUITMENT Recruitment is the lifeblood of our fraternity, and summer recruitment is especially critical to our continued success. Here's what you can do as alumni: • If you know a young man who might make a great Missouri Alpha brother, send his contact information to VP Recruitment Noah Voss '26 at nvoss24k@gmail.com. • If you would like to host an event (swimming, canoeing, barbecue, etc.) in St. Louis or KC, or have tickets/funding available for Cardinals or Royals games, Topgolf outings, or other events, please also contact Noah Voss. CALL FOR MENTORS A key focus area for us right now is building a pool of alumni mentors: brothers who will each work with an undergraduate as he prepares to enter the post-MU world. Any single alumnus can make a profound impact on one of our young brothers—with a minimal time commitment. We'd like to find a mentor for each undergraduate member. Plan on an informal monthly call to discuss school, graduation, interviewing, and preparing for the "next steps." Your experience is invaluable to these brothers. INTERESTED? Please take one minute and fill out our Professional Mentor Interest Form at tinyurl.com/MOAlphaMentors. The program will be fully in place this fall, and we need a few dozen mentors to get us there. Thank you to the 20-plus of you who have already contacted us!
