It has been three years of absence for the wonderful opportu- nity for our kiddos. There is no cost, as our local Red Kettle Campaign funds are applied for these sponsor- ships. Discovery Campers will enjoy such activities as climbing tower, ar- chery, group games, cabin life, arts and crafts, and fun evening pro- grams. They will meet new friends, experience nature, and challenge themselves. The application registration process will need to be completed online, and I can help with that process. Registration will open April 17th. Call with any questions and we can work through the process together. Dates for Discovery Camp 1 are June 19-23 and possibly Discovery Camp 2 July 3-7. I have also asked for two slots be held for July 15-22 for Quartzsite youth, ages 8-16, with a strong interest in Music. We are now on our Summer Hours. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thurs- day, 8AM to Noon. Urgent needs always with a phone call. Donations when open or with other arrange- ments. PLEASE DO NOT leave items after hours. HELP REQUEST… Do you have a music interest and would like to organize our music CD's? They need categorization by genre. Like to work outside??? Our parking lot timbers need resetting. I do have some heavy flat hose that could be staked to delineate parking slots. If anyone knows where we can get railroad rails or timbers, please let me know. If interested, please come see me or call. Thanks ~ Please understand that our building has no windows, no air exchange ventilation, our aisles are tight, and we have many senior volunteers with health concerns, so we will con- tinue to require a face covering, for both us and our amazing shoppers. We will follow the local health de- partment recommendation; "when indoors wear a mask". We appreci- ate your understanding. BUT we will tell you that you will help make a difference in our community. Our clients most likely are not go- ing to starve to death if you do not donate but the people in our com- munity will live a healthier life if you do. Most of our clients just need a little help to get by. They are on fixed in- comes from social security, military disability, or some other small re- tirement plan. Many are trying to raise a family in our wonderful community, work- ing at one or two of the few jobs we have here that pay minimum wage. Some are grandparents raising their grandchildren. When you donate to FQFB, you help us to stay open to pass out food, clothes, and toiletries to give people a hand up. To help them to decide which bills they can pay be- cause they don't have to pay for all the food they need to live a healthy life. Our clients are your neighbors, good people just trying to get by. Your donation does make a difference. We are a privately owned nonprof- it, we have to raise all our funds we need to operate. When donating to FQFB you not only receive that good feeling of helping the community you can write us off on your taxes as we are a 501c3 nonprofit. Do you work and owe AZ Taxes? You can donate that money to the food bank instead of paying the state with the AZ Tax Credit. You can still donate up till April 18 and get the tax credit. That is not a tax write-off but a credit on your actual AZ taxes that you owe. Up to $800 of your AZ taxes that you do not have to pay. Dollar for the dollar of your dona- tions to us. If you cannot donate money to us right now did you know you can gift the food bank a car or RV. You can also leave the food bank a gift of money, real estate, or other items in your will, a Beneficiary Deed or even designate retirement IRA accounts or stock investments to the Friends of the Quartzsite Food Bank. You can also have a Legacy Page on our website QuartzsiteFoodBank.com. Don't forget to pick up your gov- ernment boxes at the Western Col- lege 1st and 3rd Mondays 8am to 12. Watch for changes in their days and times on Facebook at Yuma Com- munity Food Bank. The Quartzsite Transit bus service has free rides to the food bank, just call them at 928-927-4333 for de- tails.
