And more sidewalks, walking and bike trails, playgrounds, and other recreational opportunities are being added around town all the time. gravette Day Gravette Day is an annual event the town holds to celebrate its founding in 1893. is year, it will take place Aug. 12 in Kindley Park, and features fun for the whole family. Gravette Day features food, games, vendor booths, a classic car show, parade, pageants, pancake breakfast, live music, and more. Gravette Day is not only for residents of the community, it draws in thousands of people from all around the area who also join in the celebration. gravette parks Pop Allum Park spans an impressive 22 acres and hosts Gravette's local baseball and soccer teams and leagues. e park has seven baseball fields, four soccer fields, a skate park, human foosball court, and adjoins the Gravette Nature Trail. Pop Allum Park is also the site for Gravette's annual Independence Day Celebration featuring food trucks, music and a fireworks show. Kindley Memorial Park is named aer World War I flying ace, Capt. Field Kindley. It's located right off Main Street and rests on 1.5 acres. e park has a tennis court, basketball half-court, gazebo, pavilion, picnic tables and playground. New restrooms, upgraded lighting and additional sidewalks were added to Kindley Park in the summer of 2021, thanks to a grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. e focal point of the park is a T-33 aircra that is on loan from the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. e plane was placed in the park as a tribute to Kindley, who lost his life in a plane crash aer the war. Kindley Park is also just a short walk from Main Street where there are several local businesses and shops for visitors to explore. Hiwasse Park features a tennis court with a practice board and is also striped for pickleball. Both courts are lit for evening play and have quickly become popular destinations when the weather is nice. Old Town Park features two large pavilions with several picnic tables, making it a great destination for an aernoon picnic lunch. Old Town Park is also home to a 9-hole disc golf course that oen hosts local competitions. e bottom park of Old Town Park features a picturesque green space with a small creek and is a popular outdoor wedding spot. e top of Old Town Park has playground equipment – swings, see-saws and play structures – plus a nearly 2,000-square-foot playground designed especially for toddlers. Unique in Northwest Arkansas, the toddler playground features specifically manufactured equipment for kids under age five, and includes a helicopter complete with controls, a two-seater airplane with steering wheels, and a sailboat. ere are also several play structures perfect for climbing in, on and under. e toddler area is completely covered by shade sails and is constructed with a so, artificial turf for safe and shady play.
