6 T he 74th annual Rock Chalk Revue was a success this year, and we were extremely excited to contribute to the production for the ninth year in a row. Our three Beta directors this year were Jackson Blizzard '23, William Muehlebach '23, and Joey Wood '25. We paired up with Alpha Chi Omega, with whom we haven't been paired with in at least 20 years. They've had a very solid track record for Rock Chalk Revue and have been a part of the production for three of the last four years. The Alpha Chis were phenomenal to work with, and we are so thankful for all of their help and support along the way this year. We started working on everything for the show all the way back in August, and to finally get to perform our show live on stage in February was a very rewarding feeling for all of us. Upon the conclusion of the production, our show, "Paint the Town," took home awards for Best Story, Best Male Ensemble Member (Ben Whittaker '24), and Best Comedic Performance (Joey Wood '25 and Morgan Caviar of Alpha Chi Omega). Although we wish we would have brought home a few more awards, we had an absolute blast during show week and during a year filled with scriptwriting, set-building, and more. We are so proud to have contributed to this amazing production once again, and we are proud to announce that this year's Rock Chalk Revue raised more than $30,000 for the Willow Domestic Violence Center in Lawrence. Jackson and William are disappointed to have participated in their last Rock Chalk Revue, but we know that the future of RCR is in good hands with Joey and a number of other underclassmen who participated this year. We look forward to the future of Rock Chalk Revue for the Beta house, and we hope to celebrate 10 straight years of getting into the show next year! "It was surreal. Seeing one of your best friends, your brother, for the first time in months was awesome. Watching him walk into the surprise and seeing his face light up with a smile from ear to ear just shows how powerful a group of people who care can be," stated freshmen Josh Anderson '26. Luke's father, Ben, expressed, "To surprise someone is one thing, to surprise them with such an overwhelming moment during a fight like Luke is enduring is another. It was an incredible act of selflessness for those boys to hop on that bus for 18 hours and a five-hour visit. To see alumni join, along with so many great young men, was an incredible mental boost for Luke as he goes into his transplant and journey to beat AML for good!" The ceremony was a powerful reminder of the bond that exists between brothers at Alpha Nu. The fact that 60 members of the house made the trip to support Luke is a testament to the incredible brotherhood that we have built. It's truly amazing to see how much love and support Alpha Nu can provide for one another, especially in times of need. Another one of Luke's pledge brothers, Luke Schaefer '26, said "Going to see Luke was one of the most rewarding things I've done this year. It really puts it into perspective when you think life gets difficult or stressful, to frame it in a way that there is someone always fighting harder battles than you." Luke's story is a reminder of the importance of staying positive in the face of adversity. We are so proud of Luke for his bravery and resilience, and we are honored to call him our brother. "This is the most remarkable kind act of love, service, and sacrifice. The KU Betas, time and time again, show up in the ways that count. I am beyond proud to be a part of that family." –Suz Karel, Luke's mother
