The Beacon 2 Commitment to Service Commitment to Service What We're Doing Locally and Beyond What We're Doing Locally and Beyond D elta Kappa members have been involved in multiple events and efforts not only across campus, but also around the country. Jack Woodard '19 led an event aimed at connecting ATΩ members to Be The Match, a national registry for bone marrow transplants. This growing community helps pair patients with potential donors for a life-saving transplant. The event had an excellent turnout, and we plan on working with Be The Match and the National Marrow Donor Program in the future. Each spring, we also participate in the University of Oklahoma Dance Marathon (OUDM), the largest student-led non-profit on campus. OUDM raises money for the Oklahoma Children's Hospital Foundation and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which fund research to ensure every child receives the best care, regardless of ability to pay. "Student volunteers work together to plan fundraising events, celebrations for the kids being treated at these hospitals (often referred to as Miracle Families), and (as the event name suggests) a 12-hour marathon full of fun and fundraising—all centered around getting to hear and celebrate the stories of the kids whose lives are being saved," shared Kade Littlefield '21, organization representative. ATΩ members involved in OUDM include: Jack McTighe '19, Head Executive Chairman Kade Littlefield '21, Representative Michael Mural '21 Will Shadle '21 Carson Daniel '22 Bryce Dealey '22 Aidan Gillen '22 Ben Gruber '22 Riley Page '22 Avery Romero '22 Luke Whitten '22 We have several chapter and philanthropic events scheduled for the remainder of this spring semester, with more to come in the fall.
