A: It is. April 26th is that date, and NBC will broadcast the two-hour tribute to the comedy icon, which was taped at the start of March. We spoke with her soon after that, and she told us that she was "gob- smacked" by the event and the turnout of celebrities who wanted to give her their best wishes. She also said that she was pleased that the occasion was a true "show" in performance terms. Among the many guests you can expect to see when the result is televised are Julie Andrews (Burnett's longtime "chum," as she puts it), Katy Perry, Cher, Kristin Chenoweth, Bernadette Peters, Billy Porter, Jane Lynch, Aileen Quinn, Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, designer Bob Mackie, Ellen DeGeneres, Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Lily Tomlin, Marisa Tomei, Sofia Vergara, Steve Carell, Susan Lucci, Tracee Ellis Ross and "Carol Burnett Show" colleague Vicki Lawrence. Q: Why is Rachael Ray ending her weekday show? – Sandy Ellsworth, via email A: Of what will have been 17 seasons of the syndicated program, she has said, "I've made the decision that it's time for me to move on to the next exciting chapter in my broadcast career." That involves her creation of the production company Free Food Studios, which partially will launch by making a series tentatively titled "Rachael Ray's Meals in Minutes" for A&E Network as part of its Home.Made.Nation food-programming initiative. She also has stated that she wants to help develop new talent in the epicurean space. Carol Burnett Send questions of general interest via email to tvpipeline@gracenote.com.
