2 Delta Kappa Epsilon T he spring of 2023 has been an exciting one for DKE Gamma Phi as we begin to flourish once again on the Wesleyan campus. Back from suspension, 17 of the freshman pledge class members from 2020 have stayed on board to revive the chapter. We intend on recruiting new members from each grade below us and setting the tone for years to come. SPRING SOCIAL EVENTS AND PHILANTHROPY We plan on hosting several social events open to the whole campus community, including a Master's Golf event and DKEapalooza. At sporting events, we plan to have several 50/50 raffles where the winner receives 50 percent of the proceeds and we donate the other half to charity. Our first planned charity is the Middletown Food Pantry. Throughout the spring, we also plan to volunteer at the local preschool and host other fundraising activities like Dunk a Deke, Pie a Deke, etc. Finally, we plan on bringing back DKE Recycles, where we place several recycling bins across campus, clean up the campus several times a semester, and promote recycling. FOOTBALL AND HOCKEY SUCCESS The football team had another winning year this past season and once again won the Little Three after defeating both Amherst and Williams. Led by defensive starters Harry LeGoullon '23, Christopher Guttman '23, Mike Thompson '23, and Joe Flinn '23, the Wesleyan defense was second in the league in total yards allowed. On offense, starters Owen Brickley '23 and Sam Folse '23 were a crucial part of an explosive offense that was third in the league in scoring. As the winter season is wrapping up, Wesleyan hockey continues to have a dominant year, earning first seed in the upcoming NESCAC playoffs. Wiggle Kerbrat '23, a captain on the team, is leading the league in goals scored as well as total points and goals per game. The offensive star power doesn't end there, as Colin Cobb '23 and Go Uemura '23 are also lighting it up this season as top point scorers in the league. Defenseman Mike Dunderdale '23 and forward Andrew Pratt '23 have been a crucial part of the Wesleyan defensive efforts as they help Wesleyan be second in the league in killing penalties. WE CAN'T WAIT TO WELCOME YOU BACK! We are beyond thankful to the alumni who helped us reinstate Gamma Phi and celebrated with us in February, and we look forward to seeing more of you soon.
