Depending on circumstances, this support can look a bit different for each Frater. Matt Haberkamp '11 E-2137 was fortunate to receive one of TKE's scholarships, and he is forever grateful for the chance to become a better man through this unique opportunity. THE FRATERNAL IMPACT "The TKE scholarship program played a big role in why I pledged," Matt said. He transferred to Iowa State after graduating from a community college and wanted a sense of community and involvement on campus. He met some Fraters through a part-time job, but Matt never imagined he would form such strong bonds. "When joining TKE, I don't think I realized how impactful the brotherhood would be in my life. My best man was a TKE, I was my big brother's best man, and I regularly catch up with Fraters when I make it back to Ames. The bond I shared with fellow Tekes continued to grow year after year during my time in Ames, and that's something I'm grateful for." Matt was paying for his own education at Iowa State, and he was incredibly grateful to earn a TKE scholarship. He recognized a direct impact on his academic efforts, pushing him to be a better student and more well-rounded person. Matt also appreciated the support of Tekes who recognized his academic commitment. "You deserve to be recognized throughout your time at Iowa State, not just at graduation," Matt advises current Tekes. While it's tough to compete for one of the scholarships, it is a massive honor and a testament to a student's hard work. HARD WORK PAYS OFF After graduating from Iowa State, Matt utilized his graphic design degree for an internship with the Green Bay Packers. Within eight months, he earned a full-time position as the organization's user experience coordinator. In spring 2020, he joined the Seattle Seahawks organization as their digital platforms manager, overseeing all team and stadium websites as well as the mobile app and other digital services. "My work is viewed by thousands of fans every day— and I get to attend football games on Sundays." In his personal life, Matt enjoys time with his wife, Shaunae, and their young daughter, Sophia. The bonds I created have led to endless memories, people to check in with, and some of my closest friendships to this day. I will always be grateful for my time at TKE."
