Duane W. Pugh '52 entered Chapter Eternal on
November 28, 2022. Born in Augusta, Ill., on
November 22, 1928, Duane enlisted in the Army
after high school and then attended Oklahoma
A&M (now OSU), where he was a founding
member of the Delta Chi Chapter. Duane met his
future wife, Martha Marie Barnes, at OSU; they
married in 1952 at the Shelter. After graduating,
Duane was again called back to the Army, serving
in the Korean War as an officer. Duane was very
proud of being a veteran of both the WWII and
Korean eras and was grateful for the GI Bill that
gave him the opportunity to attend college and
graduate school. He worked at Exxon and MW
Kellogg during his career and enjoyed international
travel—both through work and in retirement.
In 2021, Chip Woodward '68 drove Duane from
Houston to Stillwater for a Delta Chi reunion;
Duane spoke for 15 minutes about his Delt
involvement at the reunion. At his funeral, Duane's
family spoke as well of how important Delt was to
his life. He is survived by two daughters, two sons,
10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
John Patrick "Packy" Evans Jr. '87 entered
Chapter Eternal on December 27, 2022. Packy
earned his Juris Doctorate from the Oklahoma
City University School of Law in 1991 and
worked in the areas of banking and insurance
throughout his career. He was also a deacon at
Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma
City, where he enjoyed lifelong membership
among many close friends. Packy married Lori
Dillingham in 1993, and together they raised their
son, Jon Patrick Evans III—the joy of his life.
Packy was also an active member of the National
Multiple Sclerosis Society, often traveling to
Washington, D.C., to advocate for those afflicted
by the disease. He enjoyed many hobbies including
cooking, golfing, sailing, hunting, and skiing. Packy
is survived by his son, Patrick, former wife,
Lori, two sister, and three nieces and nephews.
