of the Prairie Grove Campaign took place on Nov. 28, 1862, and several of the buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Parks A favorite destination for those seeking fun in the outdoors is Lincoln Lake City Park. Lincoln Lake is 400 acres of pure outdoor enjoyment. e potential activities include hiking, fishing, mountain biking, rock climbing and boating; it is also a nesting home for bald eagles. Rock climbing here is commonly referred to as "Little Devil's Den," and offers some of the most easily accessible bluffs in Northwest Arkansas. Lincoln Lake also has multiple trails: Spillway Loop, Eagle View Trail, Piney Loop and Lake Loop Trail, all of which vary in length and are well-maintained throughout the year. e 90-acre lake is also a prime spot for canoeing and kayaking, and is considered the jewel of the Lincoln parks and recreation system. town Garden and Park was designed to be a community garden for the city. e idea behind the garden was to give residents the chance to support the local charities by growing fresh produce for distribution. e innovative project also gives local residents a hands-on opportunity to be involved and experience the joys of gardening for a good cause. One of the newer parks, Bumblebee Park, features a basketball court, picnic pavilion, playground, barbecue grills, and plenty of green space for a variety of outdoor activities like egg hunts, sports, picnicking, and other activities. e park's name was decided in a poll by the local community, and has been a welcome and successful addition to the Lincoln parks department. events arkansas apple Festival e Arkansas Apple Festival, held in Lincoln in early October since 1976, is currently on hold for 2023. e Community Building on the square is slated for demolition, so organizers are looking for alternatives. Hopefully the popular event – which features arts and cras booths, music, a parade, cider, fried pies, dumplings and apple slice samples – will return. Cane Hill Festival e annual Cane Hill Harvest Festival has something for everyone in the family and features live music, food, arts and cras, quilt show, tractor show, petting zoo, and historic museum displays. Visitors can also watch presentations about how to make lye soap, molasses and hominy. e festival highlights a way to experience and enjoy the "lifestyle of yesterday." Cane Hill also has a music festival the third Saturday of each month. Chicken rod nationals Car Show e annual Chicken Rod Nationals car show, sponsored by the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce, is not your ordinary car show. e event takes place on Lincoln Square and features an impressive variety of antique vehicles. Antique vehicles are not the only ones on display, however – any and all vehicles are encouraged to participate. e event is designed to give everyone a chance to show off their vehicle, regardless of the make, model or condition. e event has live music and food concessions, and is free for spectators, so it's a great event for the entire family to enjoy. Lincoln rodeo e Lincoln Riding Club Rodeo is held annually at the Lincoln Riding Club Arena. Rodeo events for all ages include bull riding, roping events, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and bareback bronc riding. Additionally, there is a street dance, rodeo performance, and parade that round out the three- day event. Parade participants range from local businesses, schools and churches, to groups within the community.
