2 It was great to be a Missouri Gamma SigEp in 2022! Dave Denner '76 President Missouri Gamma Alumni Corporation denner@earthlink.net We celebrated our 75th anniversary in September with a barbecue at the Chapter House and dinner at the Hasselmann Alumni Center, featuring speeches by Chancellor Dehghani and Grand President Maddalon. An important offshoot of the 75th was the formation of a new alumni communications team: Steve Thies '72, Rocky Andes '79, and Dave Naeger '80 are working to enhance the content, quality, and quantity of information sent to you. Our Alumni Corporation is strong and more alumni are offering their support. We had the highest attendance in recent history at the 2022 Annual Meeting in December, as many alumni joined the meeting electronically using Zoom. We are on track to pay off the mortgage at the end of 2026, while still keeping reserves for major repairs and replacements. A major feat, as we will then own all the property within our block debt free. A major effort since the rebuilding of the House in 2010 has been to keep it "like new," Mike Hurst '74 passed the Housing Chairman baton to Dave Braun '79, and Dave is doing a great job filling Mike's big shoes. Dave will need help for our Inventory and House Prep Days, and for alumni who can take charge of specific House systems. One of the key parts of National's Strategic Plan is to significantly increase the number of volunteers involved with mentoring our undergraduate Brothers. If you're interested in chapter officer, career or life mentoring, lending support to our Housing Chairman, or serving on the Alumni Board let me know. Below, Chapter President Mitchell Blanchard '24 will report on the Chapter and its challenges for 2023. The undergraduate experience is significantly different than what I, and many of you, experienced. I attended the Carlson Leadership Academy in January, where many of these differences were highlighted. COVID has had a profound effect on learning, communications, and expectations for today's students. U.S. demographics point to reduced college enrollments, and there are challenges to the fraternity system by a small number of bad actors. I'm proud of the direction our fraternity has set by being on the leading edge of eliminating hazing, implementing our Substance-Free Facility policy, and developing Balanced Men. It is the key to our long-term success. I welcome your comments and your support. How SigEp is staying on top! Mitchell Blanchard '24 Chapter President MEMBERSHIP BY THE NUMBERS As of 2023, Missouri Gamma has 82 members. Ten of those members are on co-ops, and 16 currently live out-of-house, which leaves 56 living at 801 Park Street. The Chapter's fall 2022 GPA stands at 3.38, an improvement over last semester's GPA of 3.20. KEEPING IT SPORTY In intramural sports, we are set up to win the 2022-23 intramural championship! Last semester, we won first place in flag football and pickleball while placing top three in volleyball and ultimate frisbee. Our basketball team, headed up by our stellar team captains, defeated Phi Kappa Theta 48-38 to win the championship game. CAMPUS EVENTS On campus, we are co-hosting and running the annual Zeta Tau Alpha fish fry philanthropy event, organizing sexual assault awareness week, and hosting an alumni-sponsored party during St. Pat's. We will also welcome the vice president of renewable energy from Ameren to speak on campus as a service (and part of our SigEp Learning Community efforts). I am excited to lead the Chapter into an exciting year of achievements and growth. To all our alumni brothers, we welcome you to stop by and see us anytime.
