HEAT DRY
“Feel” and Seal. Wait ‘til Late.
Here’s something you – like our hero (and house-husband) Corporal Jones – should do. Feel around doors and windows to check for air leaks, and seal them with caulking or weather-stripping. And during warmer weather, wait until the cooler evening hours to run heat-generating appliances, such as dishwashers and dryers. They heat up the entire room. To save even more electricity, use the air-dry setting on your dishwasher. Wash your clothes in cold water. And run full loads (clothes and dishes).
For a good “mix” of comfort and conservation, keep your air-conditioning set at 78°. You can also lower the thermostat on your water heater to 110-120°, and still have nice hot water.
