This sure has been a truly busy month for our members. New mem- bers have their heads spinning for all the accomplishments the Club does this month. That's okay, now that they've lived through it I'm sure there will be some construc- tive criticism when we debrief at the next meeting. First, on January 14th the Club held its Annual Yard Sale. There were so many donations that the entire front and rear yard at the clubhouse was used. In fact, there was a cashier at both ends of the property! We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all who not only donated to the cause, but came to buy it back. You know the old saying, "One man's trash, are another man's trea- surers" and people went home with a lot of treasurers. More than $500 was generated for our 2024 Com- munity Grant Program. The Wom- en's Club is also thankful for Grace Community Church as they took the rest for their sale the following weekend. In between the Yard Sale and the Bake Sale, members slowed down to enjoy each others company at our monthly social. Not only was the food excellent, as usual, but a rousing game of Left Right Cen- ter followed which everyone seems to enjoy. The winner donated half the proceeds to the Done-In-A- Day project of nonperishable food items for the Salome Food Bank. No sooner were the dishes dry from our social, when ladies dawned their aprons, lit up the ovens and rolled out huge quantities of bake goods for our 2nd Annual Bake Sale on Wednesday, January 25th. BAKE SALE As I write this, mem- bers are cleaning up from their 2nd Annual Bake Sale. Pam Brady, own- er of the NuVu Beauty Salon, has graciously offered the Club the use of her parking lot for our sale on a Wednesday, the week day when the farmer's market and vendors ap- pear. Weather, which has been so cold, warmed up nicely. The tables were full at 9:00 a.m. and nearly de- pleted by the time this writer ended her shift. I want to thank Salome High School's Culinary Class for contributing to the sale. The stu- dents do a really great job of helping supply our tables with breads, cook- ies, cupcakes and speciality items for the sale. A special thanks to Ms Lowette Di- hel, the culinary arts' instructor at Salome High School, for allowing students to support our Community Grant program. NEW MEMBER It also looks like there will be another delightful per- son joining the ranks as a GFWC-AZ ViSaWen Women's Club member. I'll introduce you to her next month. CUTLERY Deb Banks has done an outstanding job of organizing and selling of our RADA stock. The shopworn, display items and out of stock merchandise has been marked down. However, there is still plenty of cutlery in stock. Members are present at the Clubhouse, located at 66918 Avenue C, Salome, AZ, each Monday morning for assistance at 10:00 am. If that isn't convenient, you may contact Deb Banks (806- 336-2896) or Bev Owens (925-550- 1362) any time to place an order. We still have a variety of handmade quilts in varying sizes for sale. MEETING DATE GFWC is open to all women who wish to volunteer in pursuit of helping better our com- munity. See any club member for an application. Dues are only $25 per year and business meetings will occur on the fi rst Thursday now through May. Monthly socials be- gin in October on the third Thurs- day. Members gather every Monday at 10:00 am to socialize and work on projects throughout the year. Our next regular business meeting is scheduled for February 2, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at our clubhouse, right behind the McMullen Valley Fire Station. Our next fundraising oppor- tunity for will be during the 2nd An- nual Arizona Outback Spring Fling, to be held at the Salome Lion's Club, on February 18th. GFWC: "Dedicated to Community Improvement by Enhancing the Lives of Others through Volunteer Service." Judie New Ladies meet for Lunch monthly A group of ladies getting together to "do lunch" sounded like a great idea to organizer Lynda Goldberg and her friends a few years back. Well, the ladies have been gather- ing the 1st Tuesday of the month for lunch at various local restaurants ever since. The ladies share a little bit about themselves or current events. It's been a great way for newcomers to meet others. Tuesday, MARCH 7th the Ladies Lunch will meet at the QIA (Quartzsite Improvement Assoc.) located at 1235 E. Ironwood in Quartzsite. As Lynda reminds the ladies, it's not a club, but just a gathering; and there's no politics or religions; just for a good ol' fun time! For other events check out Quartzsite Chatter on Facebook. In a letter to the Board of Directors on January 10, 2023, Shanana Rain Gold- en-Bear announced her resignation: "It is with a heavy heart that I am re- signing my position from the Quartzsite Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism (QACC&T) Board of Directors. My res- ignation takes place immediately. I may not be fully available as a board member anymore, but I can offer my assistance when it comes to the transition process. It has truly been an honor and pleasure to serve on this board since the founding of the organization in 2015. I feel blessed to have been a part of the Ad Hoc Steer- ing Committee which helped launch Quartzsite Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism for the betterment of local businesses, tourism, our visitors, and economic empowerment and develop- ment. During that time, I have enjoyed volunteering with so many wonderful people in this community. I am grateful to have served in the po- sitions of Marketing Director, President and Past President, as well as volunteer- ing thousands of hours in the tourism in- formation center. Liability and responsi- bility of an QACC&T board member is a great one, something that should be taken seriously. It will take commitment and determination of board members for the future success. While I greatly appre- ciated my time with the Chamber, recent changes in the organizational structure make it apparent that this is not the best place for my skillset. I feel it is best for my mental, spiritual, emotion and physi- cal well-being to resign at this time. Together we have tackled many success- ful projects, but my favorite has been the opportunity to promote the community of Quartzsite to the whole world. I wish you all continued success. Respectfully, Shanana Rain Golden-Bear Founding Chamber board member resigns
