The earthquakes have resulted in thousands of deaths in Türkiye and Syr- ia and affected hundreds of thousands of people. USAID established CIDI to inform the public about the advantages of giving monetary donations to relief organizations and warn about the risks of donating unsolicited material goods. CIDI's goal is to support donors and relief agencies as they work together to provide quick, effective, and effi cient relief to people af- fected by disasters. DONATE Send cash donations to reputable relief organizations working on the ground. They can make the most difference and save the most lives. De- tailed information on how relief organizations use donations can be found at: GiveWell, Charity Navigator, Charity Watch, and the Better Business Bureau. Learn more at https://www.cidi.org/ Every disaster response is unique, carefully tailored to meet ever-chang- ing humanitarian needs. Immediately after a disaster strikes, relief orga- nizations coordinate with the host government, affected communities, and other aid groups to conduct needs assessments in order to save as many lives as possible. During this stage, unsolicited material goods are seldom required as they compete with priority relief items identifi ed by the disaster experts. Learn more at https://www.cidi.org What is a pageant? In the manner I am using the term it is an event that is performed to show heritage for an informal educational purpose. The Quartzsite Historical Society puts on the Walk in the Past, each February, a pageant sharing the history from the perspective of early local pioneers. Set in Hi Jolly Cemetery, meet the pioneers who developed this little town. In the cemetery containing their graves you will meet men and women portraying some of the families who lived here in the past. Who might be there, you never know as there were such interesting and colorful people who lived in Quartzsite. Join us Saturday February 25, 2023 at the Hi Jolly Cemetery at 1 pm for the pageant this year. This is a free event. March as the season is winding down is a great time to have a little cel- ebration! Desserts in the Desert is going to be a Prom at the Senior Center for Seniors, or anyone else who wants to spend a night dancing and having fun. Did you miss your prom?
