Pdo Club ELKHARTLAKE.COM | 1 6 Years spent in Elkhart Lake: 15 years What is your connection to Elkhart Lake? We grew up in Plymouth and spent our summers at Firemans Park Beach and Road America. Our parents have always been avid golfers and have been members at Quit-Qui-Oc Golf Course for the past 30+ years and have been good friends with the Wiese family. As kids, our parents loved coming out for dinner in Elkhart Lake, so it was always a treat to come into town. What made you want to own a business in Elkhart Lake? Lynn: I was very inspired by all the locally owned businesses in town. Prior to coming to Elkhart Lake, I had just decided to pass on an opportunity in Milwaukee. I wanted something with more of a neighborhood vibe. Our dad, Jim Chisholm told us that the Village Green was for sale, and that we should look at it as a family. I knew I was lacking a working partner so having the support of my siblings in such a big endeavor sounded amazing. Also, having a 100-year-old building to gut sounded fun! Cheri: I was going to be her local sibling support, next thing I know I'm front of house manager and there was no turning back, and I wouldn't change a thing. As a family, we had all eaten Lynn's food for so long, and we knew that her food would be a welcome addition. Elkhart Lake was such a good fit for the concept that Lynn wanted to bring to this community, easily fitting in with other established restaurants. How has your business evolved over the years you have been in Elkhart Lake? Lynn: Our team and everyone that has worked with us over the years, have helped us evolve into what we are today. Cheri and I are very hands-on with operations, and we both get a lot of joy watching our staff grow and develop new skills. We have grown so much and have learned a lot on how to navigate operations with the seasonality of Elkhart Lake. We believe in leading with kindness and want guests to feel at home when joining us for dinner. Cheri: Even though I am not a big fan of change, I have full appreciation that Lynn thrives on personal growth and change. I embrace her drive to make this restaurant all that it can be. What is your favorite thing about Elkhart Lake? The energy-we love the anticipation of summer, summer staff returning, reuniting with seasonal customers, standing room only, line out the door, the pace is fast, furious, & fun. The energy in the fall is like putting on your favorite sweater; familiar & comforting; we have more time to connect & have real conversations with our locals, business neighbors, vendors, and even employees.
