Gamma epSilon 3 G amma Epsilon is back to operating in form! This fall, we refocused our operations and followed through on some of our goals to return to good standing. We are quite proud of what we have accomplished. We are well on our path to repairing our relationship with the General Fraternity. This fall, we completed our remaining directives: we held an anti-hazing workshop, implemented a new pledge education program, conducted revisions to our constitution, and refocused on some of the events that made Gamma Epsilon so strong in the past. NEW PLEDGE EDUCATION PROGRAM Our new pledge education program is shortened and ensures our new members are adequately prepared for the brotherhood. However, the program does not compromise some of the great Gamma Epsilon traditions, like Beta 100s, that make our chapter so special. Pledge Educator Cooper Richenburg '24 and Pledge Education Advisor Dan Otto '78 have done great work on this! CONSTITUTIONAL REVISIONS Our constitution has not been updated in almost 10 years! The current executive team took time this summer and fall to examine our constitution and update it to reflect what students today are facing and looking for in a fraternity experience. They also updated our Kai committee guidelines and membership expectations, which will help hold our brothers to higher standards moving forward. BETA BOO PHILANTHROPY After a COVID hiatus, we were able to bring back Beta Boo this fall, and the men knocked it out of the park! Coordinated by Philanthropy Chairmen Dakota Burritt '25 and Jack Elmore '25, we were able to raise $6,312 through a weeklong philanthropy that included a banner competition, a powder puff football tournament, and the haunted house on Friday that was a huge success. Hundreds of attendees walked through 500 Sunset, and it was wonderful to have this tradition return. All proceeds benefited the American Diabetes Association. We are also excited to have a spring 2023 pledge class this year! While it has not been done in recent years, our recruitment chairmen are hard at work looking for 10 men to join in the spring. hiGh hopeS in The ChapTer Working on a Healthy Brotherhood Gamma Epsilon alumni and active brothers gather at convention. Gamma Epsilon brothers enjoy some downtime during convention. H ey, all! Progress this fall is moving along. We celebrated the topping out ceremony for the expansion on October 12, which was a great opportunity to mark our progress and reflect on how far we have come. This space will open in the spring, and our members are very excited for the additional study and group space. Pictures will be included in further updates! We are working with the chapter to make sure things stay in top condition as more alumni come to the facility. Be sure to make plans to visit next fall when the renovation is complete, as we have much more to show. Construction has begun, but the campaign is ongoing. We have raised $1,919,047 so far and are thankful to all our donors. Over the next few months, we need to drive our participation percentage up to around 20%; we currently sit at 10%. We have some outstanding class leaders and volunteers who have involved themselves; please reach out to those that are from your era if you have questions. You can also contact the house corporation directly. Our campaign website at 500sunset.causevox.com is also a great resource, and we recommend you explore that as well. Every gift matters and makes a difference in this effort. We can be very proud of our progress and complete the expansion and renovation as we envision currently, but let's all be good Kansans and give to ensure we carry less debt! Lower financing costs will make sure we have funds each year to provide for whatever tomorrow's generation of Gamma Epsilons are facing. Your support can secure them the leadership training, personal growth, and brotherhood that is meaningful to us all.
