A message from our Chamber President In this edition you are going to read of the contributions made by specific Fayetteville community leaders to make Fayetteville its best place to live, work and enjoy life. In 2002, the Fayetteville Chamber started annually recognizing these difference makers with its Wes Gordon Golden Deeds Award. Mr. Gordon was the President of our Chamber for 25 consecutive years. During his tenure Fayetteville transitioned from being a sleepy little university town to become a leader in change for our city, our region and our state. Those recognized receive a handmade plaque as evidence that our Chamber and City recognize they were and are difference makers. Previously a second plaque has been displayed around the railing surrounding the Fayetteville Square. Just recently the decision was made to relocate the plaques to the East wall of the Chamber building at 21 West Mountain to facilitate making these incredible individuals better known to our citizens and guests. Those recognized are individuals who had dreams about Fayetteville's quality of life, which included an abundance of opportunities, the involvement of all in living here, and an astute vision about what Fayetteville needed then and what would be needed in years ahead as we grew and thrived. Please read about these very special individuals who helped put Fayetteville on the map and in the hearts of too many people to count. Thank them and thank you for believing in Fayetteville and committing to Fayetteville as the place to live your life.
