Sigma Phi Epsilon Drake University P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested SAVE THE DATE Relays 2023 Is Going to Get LOUD! e AVC is proud to announce that we are planning a reunion for: What? e 20th anniversary of Iowa Delta's RECHARTERING! Where and When? At Drake Relays 2023! e Chapter, which officially rechartered on November 9, 2002, has been going strong for nearly 20 years. To honor our refounding fathers and celebrate our continued success and growth, we ask you to save the date for Relays 2023—April 26-29—to come reconnect on campus, visit the Chapter House, and meet up with old friends. Planning on attending or want more details? Visit bit.ly/iadelta2023 to learn more and RSVP. A s far as Fraternity recruitment stories go, Steve Nellis '64 doesn't consider his to be profound: two of his local friends chose SigEp, and he simply joined them. But once he was there, in a new Chapter House with quality pledge brothers like Gary Ordway '64, he was determined to get involved in Iowa Delta. "e Fraternity taught me responsibility—that nobody's irreplaceable," Steve said. "Work hard and you can survive." Steve served as the Chapter's treasurer as an undergraduate and spent a few years on the alumni board after graduating. After serving in the Army, he had a lengthy career in the insurance and finance industries—something he feels was supported by his SigEp experience. Now retired, Steve spends his time in the investing space to support himself and the causes he cares about. Iowa Delta is honored to have Steve's financial support not only in the Securing Our Tradition of Excellence campaign, but in the Chapter's previous capital campaign as well. "Alumni like Gary have worked so hard to support this Chapter, and I wanted to lend a hand," Steve said. "I'm a loyal person to multiple organizations, including Drake University and Sigma Phi Epsilon." Steve is married with three grown children and four grandchildren. He lives in Naples, Florida, and has remained close with several Iowa Delta brothers through the years. In addition to SigEp and Drake, Steve supports local organizations, such as St. Matthew's House in Naples, which works to fight homelessness, poverty, and substance and domestic abuse. If you'd like to connect with Steve, he can be reached at scmanellis@outlook.com. The Dirk Supporting a Worthy Cause WHY STEVE NELLIS '64 BELIEVES IN SIGEP "WE WERE PRETTY DARN GOOD, BUT THEY'RE EVEN BETTER NOW." ough the Chapter was suspended after he graduated, Steve wants fellow alumni to know how much Iowa Delta has grown and improved since its return—and hopes they'll give what they can to help it continue. "We were always scholastically involved, charitable, and active on campus. We were pretty darn good, but they're even better now."
