Q: With The CW having
canceled "Nancy Drew," is
there a chance that another
network will pick it up? –
Robin Cash, via email
A: There's always a chance, as
proven by such examples as
"Manifest" (which Netflix picked
up) and the "Magnum P.I." reboot
(which NBC will continue)... but as
of this writing, a continuation of the
Kennedy McMann-starring "Nancy
Drew" elsewhere was uncertain, despite fans' pleas for that via
social media.
Q: Ashley Newbrough is one of my favorite
actresses in Christmas movies. Where did she get
her start? – Ann Powers, Bend, Ore.
A: The Newport, R.I., native began
her career at a young age, since
she was making commercials by
the time she was 10. It wasn't too
many years later that she began
landing acting roles on such shows
as "1-800-Missing" and "DeGrassi:
The Next Generation." Those led to
regular parts on the shows "Rent-
a-Goalie" and "Privileged," and a
recurring job on "Mistresses."
