Page 3 A t the Sorority and Fraternity Life Awards this past year, Sigma Kappa won Chapter of the Year, along with a certificate for excellence in academic performance for our 3.37 GPA. Beth Davis '20 won the Outstanding New Member Award; our house director, Joanie Calder, was awarded House Director of the Year; and alumna Megan Gunter '17 won the Outstanding Alumna Service Award. This was a great way to close out the 2021-22 school year! In June, Xi Chapter's Panhellenic delegate, Megan Carlson '19, and the vice president of standards and values, Brooke Bennett '20, traveled to Denver, Colorado, for the Sigma Kappa Convention. They had a wonderful time interacting with Sigma Kappa alumnae and members from chapters around the nation. Xi's recruitment team prepared the chapter thoroughly during Work Week, which allowed for fall formal recruitment to be a success. Members exhibited Sigma Kappa's value of friendship while bonding with each other during recruitment week. The skills the chapter learned, practiced, and demonstrated granted Xi an amazing new member class and allowed for a lot of personal growth before the school year. Our chapter recently hosted a successful new philanthropy event for the Sigma Kappa Foundation called Sigma Sweets. Many KU students and members of the community came to this event, and it was the perfect opportunity for initiated members to get to know more of the new members on a deeper level. Additionally, the chapter had a fun sisterhood event at a bowling alley, which brought everyone closer together after a successful Rock 'n' Roll-themed Bid Day, Doves and Roses. Members of Xi are eager for the rest of the semester and are excited for our campus involvement with Homecoming, Rock Chalk Revue, the Walk to End Alzheimer's, and so much more.
