H H H H sigma XI CHAPTER OF SIGMA KAPPA H UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS Fall 2022 I n August, members conducted recruitment in a beautifully updated living room that contains abstract navy and gray area rugs and new velvet ottomans. A deep-gray loveseat and reupholstered side chairs splashed with a bright floral patten, which are scheduled to arrive soon, will complement the beautiful gray walls. The basement is also receiving a makeover to become more useful and attractive. The walls were painted gray to accommodate our new color scheme. Beige furniture is being recovered with gray and navy patterns, and a new table and chairs have been added to facilitate study and accommodate small meetings. The corporation board also plans to purchase four barrel chairs to create a cozy reading nook for the members in one corner of the basement. This summer, the corporation board purchased 11 new pieces of furniture, and in October, we received our newly reupholstered sofas, chairs, and ottomans. The painting projects included the finished basement and the entire stairwell. Bright yellow Knock Out roses were added to the front yard for additional color. After the entire house received new tuck- pointing (brick mortar repair) this summer, this unglamorous but necessary project used up $48,000 of Xi's summer funds. The board has many items on its wish list, so they have been added to Xi's five-year plan. These include new built-in cabinets and desks along one wall of the library, new windows on the south second floor, new carpet in the finished basement, and fresh landscaping on all sides of the house. As always, alumnae support goes a long way in helping us achieve these updates! Please consider supporting Xi in your holiday giving this year. The board appreciates your continued support. I am so excited to be joining Xi Chapter as advisory board supervisor and to work with the rest of the amazing advisory board members in guiding the collegiate leadership team to its full potential. I live in Kansas City, Missouri, and when I'm not volunteering with Sigma Kappa, I work with nonprofits in print and media marketing. We are going through the process of renewing current advisory roles, so if you are interested in volunteering, please reach out and I will let you know of any openings!
