Please have your funeral home send us your loved ones' obituaries to events@rutherfordweekly.com Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries ©Community First Media Community First Media One of the best defi nitions of worship that I have found is by author Timothy Keller. He said, "The word "worship" is from Old English "worth-ship"- the ascribing of highest worth. Whatever you value or love the most- whatever is your greatest source of signifi cance and security- you are worshipping in your heart." In other words, what we value the most is what we worship. Jesus made a scathing assessment of that day's religious crowd when he said that with their mouths they honor me, but their hearts are far away from me. Worship is not just saying you love God but is confi rming it by your actions. Worship is not only for Sunday morning but is for every day of the week. We show just how important God is to us by how we live out our faith. We may sing hymns of praise on Sunday morning, but the real test of our worship happens on Monday morning. The idea that we can attend church on Sunday and live any way we want all the other days is full of hypocrisy and duplicity. It is not true worship. With the beginning of every day comes the opportunity to worship God. Our worship and love for God is displayed in how we conduct our lives and how we treat others. Just picture how much more meaningful Sunday worship services would be if we have lived out our worship all the other six days of the week. I believe our churches would be radically changed if it were full of 24/7 worshippers. Just imagine singing a hymn of worship and actually living it. Now that is what God calls worship!
