THE TOMAHAWK
2 Alpha Mu Chapter
T
he weekend of September 15-18 will forever live in our Alpha Mu
hearts as a most memorable time celebrating our chapter's 100
uninterrupted years on campus
Seven events over four days were highlighted by the marquee
centennial banquet at the Iowa State University Memorial Union,
which was enjoyed by 320 alumni brothers and guests Other events
included Thursday golf and reception, Friday chapter house and
campus tours, Saturday Cyclone football game festivities, and a
Sunday morning brunch
Although it was a bit wet Saturday morning for the pre-game
tailgate, the event was attended by 250 guests The weather cleared
in time for our Cyclone football team to dazzle us with a big victory
over Ohio University, 43-10
Attendance by alumni brothers spanned multiple decades, from
Reiny Friedrich '56 to the current undergraduate members Three
alumni brothers—Roger Hansen '72, Ted Peters '74, and J.R.
Matulac '89—and 2013-14 graduate student advisor Aja Holmes, all
from the California Bay Area, traveled the furthest Aja is an alumna
of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, from Illinois State University
She advised Alpha Mu while earning her PhD at ISU
Brothers reuniting with brothers, in many instances after decades of
pause, was incredibly special to observe
