T7 BY MICHELLE ROSE TV Media T wo new food shows are scheduled to land on The Roku Channel this week, and both hail from Christopher Kimball, creator of "Milk Street" (and for- mer CEO/host of "America's Test Kitchen"). The latest additions to the ev- er-growing list of brand-new Roku Originals, "Milk Street's Cooking School" and "Milk Street's My Family Recipe" are both available for streaming be- ginning Friday, Oct. 28. Armed with "appealing, ap- proachable recipes from around the world" (according to the of- ficial description), Kimball and his team of experts seek to in- spire home cooks through "Milk Street's Cooking School." The show introduces viewers to new techniques, ingredients and tools that should make every home cook more confident, more successful and more excit- ed to get in the kitchen. The other series, "Milk Street's My Family Recipe," taps into the emotional food-family connection. "With a combination of his- torical context and modern culi- nary know-how, Christopher Kimball and James Beard Award Winner Cheryl Day will help home cooks recreate lost or for- gotten cherished family reci- pes," the official description reads. "'My Family Recipe' is more than a cooking show — it's a show about history, communi- ty, family and memories, and how food ties it all together." These two Roku Originals stem from a deal inked earlier this year with Milk Street and Marquee Brands, the company that owns the Martha Stewart and Emeril Lagasse brands. Roku's high-profile partnership has not only produced several original series, it also adds more than 3,000 episodes — including complete past seasons of shows such as "Martha Stewart Living" and "Essence of Emeril" — to Roku's free-to-view library. Roku has also pledged to make it easy to access all of this con- tent, including Seasons 1 through 5 of "Christopher Kim- ball's Milk Street Television," by creating linear channels for us- ers to watch through the Live TV Guide. As for "Milk Street's Cooking School" and "Milk Street's My Family Recipe," the two new se- ries arrive on The Roku Channel Friday, Oct. 28.
