B eta eta Pi meant a lot of things to Dave Rose '67 as a young man. It had a family appeal, as his father was a Beta alumnus at Indiana University. ere was a strong academic appeal; Dave was a high school Valedictorian, four-year class president, and lettered in multiple sports, and Beta Mu encouraged him to keep up the pace at Purdue. "I loved the house, sitting on top of a bluff overlooking West Lafayette." Most importantly, Beta encouraged Dave to branch out socially. He identified and bonded with his pledge brothers (and many others in the Chapter House), making fond memories through intramurals, Beta Mu Song Fest, his pledge class's walkout to the University of Michigan, and multiple sorority parties. at's how he met his wife, Anne, in fact—president of Chi Omega and a Beta Mu Sweetheart. With Beta's backing, Dave refused to be intimidated by his dreams. He graduated from Purdue with an engineering degree, going on to co-found and serve as president of the intellectual property law firm Conley Rose. In Dave's years, Conley Rose had offices in Houston, Dallas, and Austin, Texas, becoming the largest sole patent firm in the state. David was also a director of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, a director of the Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of Texas, and president of the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association. He also became president of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Beta Mu did so much for Dave, and it was important to him to support the Chapter in return. at's why he generously gave to both capital campaigns in the Chapter's recent history. "My brothers and the Chapter needed my help, and I was financially able to give it," he said. "I was proud of Beta Mu and wanted to do my share." Dave and Anne live in Houston, where they moved aer law school. ey have two sons; one is a patent attorney and the other a banker. Dave enjoys keeping up with Beta through Homecoming, newsletters, and phone calls with his brothers. "is Fraternity is successful in every way. e average brother is smart, social, and athletic, which are all traits that I value deeply. I also liked the amount of philanthropy that Beta does. It is truly an honor to join Beta eta Pi." –Trevor Flint '25 "e moment I entered the Chapter House, I felt at home. Aer the conversations with brothers, I knew that Beta would push me to succeed in every aspect of my life and push me to become the best possible version of myself alongside a group of students with the same goals.
