Visions Violets of Beta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Purdue University • Fall 2022 Inside: Will You Support Beta Sigma? 2 ❤ Σ K Year in Review 3 ❤ Executive Council 4 A s your newly appointed president of the House Corporation Board, I hope this newsletter finds each one of you well. I would like to take a moment to introduce, or reintroduce, myself. I pledged Sigma Kappa in 1985 and have lived in Indianapolis for nearly 30 years, working in the non-profit sector. While I previously served on the board as treasurer a few years ago, this is the first time as president, so I am still learning all about my new role. MEET THE BOARD As you all know, this role cannot be done alone. I am excited to share that we have several familiar faces on the House Corporation Board, and we also had interest from other sisters looking to reconnect and donate their time. Our current board includes returning members Vicki Osmolski Lindamood '92, Melissa Dunlap Flemming, Gamma Gamma '96, Renee Caravette Beck, Alpha Tau '83, and Laura Haynes Moffat, Tau '80. Joining us as new members are Linda Craig '80, Katrinka Brown Toebes '83, and Jackie Jensen Perdue '98. We are a group of women from various pledge years and different chapters that share the love of sisterhood and want to give back through our time and efforts. RENOVATION UPDATES I am thrilled to share that the renovation is well underway in the bum room. Many thanks to Cinda Zimmack Terry '79 for lending her professional expertise as an interior designer. We are thrilled to be able to provide a refresh to our bum room, where so many of us spent our time and our current sisters still spend lots of time when in the house. We are loving how this refresh is turning out and are so excited to show it off soon. This fundraising effort was launched last December, and we are so thankful that alumnae have raised over $21,000 so far. We still need $3,000 to meet our goal so that additional décor items can be added. Please consider giving to complete this project. We will continue to make renovations to our house, but we can only do so with donors like you. If you would like to contribute, you can do so online through our Givebutter site at tinyurl.com/GivebutterSK or via mail by sending checks to: Sigma Kappa House Corporation Board Bum Room Reno P.O. Box 2317 West Lafayette, IN 47996-2317 IT'S TIME TO COME HOME I hope you are excited as I am about our big reunion and upcoming anniversary, where we will celebrate 75 years as a chapter. We are planning a fun and exciting multi-day event over the weekend of May 19-21, 2023, at the chapter house and on Purdue's campus. Stay tuned for more updates about lodging (there will be an option to stay at the house) and an event schedule. Save the date!
