RECRUITMENT SUCCESS Under the direction of Lexi Symonds '19 and Kennedy Willhite '20, we had an extremely successful recruitment this year and are pleased to announce that we initiated 74 new members September 28-29. We are so excited to welcome these women into our chapter. BREAKING ABROAD Over the summer, many of our members traveled abroad to study and participate in internships. • Jayme Opdahl '21 interned at RMP Prop in London, England, through the Trulaske College of Business. • Meredith Hutt '19 was given the opportunity to study strategic communication through the J-school in Barcelona, Spain, for 10 weeks. She was lucky enough to work alongside emerging entertainment talent at an acting school. • Bella Hatzigeorgiou '19 (that's me!) participated in an internship at a public relations agency in downtown Barcelona, also as part of the J-school opportunity. • Kennedy Willhite '20 participated in a six-week psychology program in Vienna, Austria. • Sierra Greaser '19 attended a nursing ethics program in Florence, Italy. • Ellie Kaufman '19 also studied abroad in Italy at the Florence University of the Arts while participating in a real estate internship at the same time. • Sophia Tumminia '19 was also in Florence, interning for Bravo Savings Network and helping with marketing for an online retail company. PHILANTHROPY AND WALK OF FAITH 5K We are proud to say we continue to lead in philanthropic fundraising in the Greek community. In the coming months, the women of Delta Xi will have the opportunity to participate in the 5th annual Lizzy's Walk of Faith 5K race. At age 10, Lizzy Wampler bravely finished her battle with bone cancer. Her race against cancer ended too soon due to the need for a cure of Osteosarcoma. All the proceeds from the 5K are donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and the Wampler family holds a special place in our hearts here in Columbia. FALL 2022 PLANS Our chapter will stay busy this fall with our two annual philanthropy events (one highlighted above), Homecoming, and other community activities. In October, we will host Triple Play, a softball tournament where fraternities and other organizations create teams and pay to enter a competitive softball bracket. Our members will participate by refereeing the games as well as cheering on different teams on the sidelines. All proceeds of the event will be donated directly to St. Jude. Also in October, the women of Delta Xi are excited to work alongside the men of Alpha Gamma Sigma to compete in this year's Homecoming activities. The university's theme is "Paint the Town Gold." Greek organizations will participate with decorations and a float reflecting different cartoons. Our pairing was lucky enough to receive Kim Possible. We cannot wait to see all our members' incredibly hard work come to life on October 9. In November, we will host our second fall philanthropy event, Sincerely Yours. Members will gather in our newly renovated dining room to package personal letters that will be sent to family, friends, and alumnae in an effort to raise more money for the children of St. Jude. We want to thank all the alumnae who have supported our renovation! Since coming back for the fall semester, many of our members are awestruck with how beautiful the dining room and service area look. It has truly transformed the house! I am so excited to see what the future holds for the women of Delta Xi in my final fall semester here at Mizzou! Loyally, Bella Hatzigeorgiou '19 Chapter President tridelta.mizzou.president@gmail.com Members of the 2019 pledge class who participated in recruitment get together for final round of preference after sharing their favorite memories of being a Tri Delta. Our new members gather in front of the lawn on Bid Day! This year's theme was "Delta Love and More." "I GIVE A LOT OF CREDIT TO DELTA XI FOR EMPOWERING ME TO DREAM BIG AND GO AFTER BIG GOALS." Dreaming Big Dreaming Big (Continued from page 1) Her experience in that role ended up instilling her with confidence, and her sisters were incredibly encouraging. "I even saved a supportive note that a sister wrote to me during that time." It wasn't all work, however, as Jenn recalls participating in a few skits and in-between acts during Homecoming and Greek Week. "I have such fond memories of those days, and I believe all of those experiences helped start me on a path to have a music career." Having grown up in a small town, it was wonderful being surrounded by young women from different parts of the country and different upbringings. To do life with these women, to be roommates and friends while walking through their collegiate years together was an amazing experience. Jenn feels grateful to wake up every day and do something she loves. "When I'm not writing songs, I'm running," she shared. "To date, I've run 17 marathons and 47 half marathons. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and traveling." Now living in Nashville, Jenn loves meeting up with sisters who pass through town. "I stay in touch with several of my sisters, and social media has been a wonderful way to stay in touch and see photos and updates. I'm so proud of my sisters and what they've gone on to accomplish in their lives." You can connect with Jenn at jennschott1@gmail.com. Bella Hatzigeorgiou '19 and Meredith Hutt '19 visit the Louvre in Paris on a weekend trip.
