F raternities are meant to build relationships that last long after college years. Though developmental years on campus may structure a young adult's career path, the bonds made through brotherhood transcend academics and last a lifetime. "As a freshman, I was part of a group of men from Humbert 3 who joined Indiana Zeta," Tod said. "It's those relationships that we built which have lasted to this day." Earning a computer science degree, Tod's first job after college stemmed from a research project by Professor Dave Berque at DePauw. He spent six years with DyKnow in Indianapolis as a software engineer, then joined ExactTarget. The company was purchased by Salesforce, and he is currently a Software Architect working on MobileConnect, Salesforce's SMS marketing product. Tod mentors software engineers while they continue to develop the product over time, and he supports global customers with the product management, customer success, and business operations team. "I'm extremely proud of what I've accomplished in 10 years at Salesforce," Tod said. "In the software industry, it can be common for individuals to switch companies every two to three years. What I have found by staying is that I've gained a deep understanding of the software architecture of the product, the business, and the customer use cases that allow me to be extremely effective within my day-to- day role leading others." Tod recognizes the opportunities available to computer science majors today, and he urges undergraduates to consider all their options. While a software development path may be the best option for some, others may be interested in technical leadership, product management, or various other possibilities. Within his discipline, Tod was fortunate to make natural bonds with fellow Phis. He often visits campus multiple times a year, spending time with Steve "Jonesy" Jones '69, whom he shares Buckeye roots with. Tod is one of several '06 Phis who attend one another's weddings, bachelor parties, and more. "While there were many memories from Indiana Zeta, what has been truly cherished is the memories we have all had together after our experiences in the Chapter House," Tod mentioned. Though the brothers have been out of college for years, Indiana Zeta spawned lasting bonds that have only grown stronger with time. Even when brothers are traveling or just sending family updates through text, Tod cherishes those connections he made over the years. Tod married his wife, Kristy, in 2011. They have two young daughters, Gemma and Evelynn. Their weekdays are filled with swimming, soccer, dance, and basketball events, while the family enjoys travel, backyard camping, and visiting friends and family on the weekends. These men and their families are a part of my and my family's life, and it doesn't matter if we haven't seen each other in few years, we can pick up right back where we left off."
