If you miss this time, you may have to pay higher premiums for signing up late. General Enrollment Period January 1 – March 31 Sign up for Medicare Part A and B, if you did not sign up when you were first eligible. Coverage begins July 1 Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment January 1 – March 31 Your coverage will start the first day of the month after you ask to join the plan. Coverage begins July 1 Annual Notice of Change September Details any changes in coverage, costs and providers. Open Enrollment October 15 – December 7 You can join, switch, or drop a plan.
