Summer of
Redstone teamed up with community
groups over the summer to share facts
about money, budgets, and career planning
in a fun and engaging way.
In July, Redstone hosted a "Fun-ancial Ed
Fair" for participants of the Boys & Girls
Club of North Alabama.
Students, ages 10-16, from Madison,
Morgan, and Limestone counties attended
educational sessions on Landing Your
Dream Job, Cybersecurity, and Physical
Security. ere were also games and
activities that focused on the money
management principles of "spend, save,
and share." To demonstrate sharing, the
young people created thank-you cards for
the Huntsville hospital staff.
In August, Redstone and the University
of Alabama in Huntsville's Financial
Management Association hosted a Reality
Fair during their Week of Welcome.
Using a tool called the Reality Fair Kit,
UAH students were given a profile that
contained a career with a salary. Many
profiles included a spouse, and most
had at least one child. e students then
traveled to different stations – such as
savings, checking, childcare, technology,
and entertainment – that represented
important purchases in an adult's life.
Redstone and UAH staff educated
attendees on these purchases.
After the participants finished the event,
they turned in their Balance Sheet and
were entered into a drawing for prizes that
included an electric scooter, a UAH refill
cup, and gift cards!
