A s we begin a new school year, I feel it is only appropriate to reflect on the past year. Lambda undergraduates had a very successful year despite some tough circumstances. As you know, we tragically lost brother Karson Janssen #1841 this past fall. Through this loss, the chapter grew closer. We promised to push ourselves for Karson, allowing his impact to be felt throughout the house and around campus. The chapter embodied the words "Be Nice, Be Neat, Be Humble" and used this motto to help drive our success. Many brothers participate in campus activities outside of Alpha Gamma Rho. We are happy to have three members of the Livestock Judging Team: Sam Bobendrier #1828, Nick Beseke #1827, and Nick Flom #1840. We are also pleased to have three Dairy Judging Team members: Zach Schilter #1846, Jay Dicke #1830, and Isaac Rott #1845. Additionally, we have many members in leadership roles within campus clubs, including Zach Schilter #1846 as president of the Gopher Dairy Club, the largest-student organization at the University of Minnesota. Zach is joined by Gopher Crops and Soils President Creighton Sauer #1833 and Agricultural Business Club Vice President Luke Borst #1839. This past spring, we not only thrived on campus through activities, but also in the classroom. We placed fourth in GPA out of 28 IFC fraternities, with our chapter average being a strong 3.45. We look forward to pushing each other academically this school year. Over Memorial Day weekend, we held NorthStar Showdown, our annual steer and heifer show at the Goodhue County Fairgrounds. It was an immense success, and we saw a record turnout. This was much in thanks to your continued support and the hard work of undergraduates Justin Thomforde #1842, Lincoln Bryan #1829, and Jay Dicke #1830 in organizing the show. Over the summer, a group of undergraduates and alumni, along with our house director, attended Alpha Gamma Rho National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was a great opportunity for us to learn more about bettering our chapter and continuing to make better men here at Lambda. We were also recognized nationally with six awards: Sleeter Bulls Most Improved Chapter runner-up, Academic Excellence, House Director – House Management Excellence, Continued Membership Development, Outstanding Communications, and Best Feature Story in our Crescent newsletter. At the time of writing this, fall recruitment is going strong. We already have a handful of outstanding young men excited to be initiated into our brotherhood this fall. The executive team views recruitment as the focal point of the fall as we work to increase the size and reach of Lambda. We are excited to lead Lambda Chapter to further success this fall, and we thank you for your continued support!
