4 The Plan for Our Home Mu Mu House at 692 High St. A chain's durability is measured by the strength of its weakest link. Without a competitive and safe home supporting the chapter's academic and leadership growth and ensuring the financial foundation for Mu Mu, we leave our fate up to chance. A New Face for Sigma Chi One component of this project was to reimagine the façade of our home. Inspired by the Hamrick home—with which Mu Mu has many legacy connections—and the West Virginia Governor's Mansion, imagine heading up High Street to see large white columns along the front of the house with a prominent front porch and "SIGMA CHI" in big, bold letters. We heard clearly during the feasibility study that the opportunity to change the look of our home is an important part of the overall vision of the project. Raise strategic funds to support Mu Mu with academic and leadership opportunities, removing the financial burden of facility maintenance, and retire the mortgage. Overhaul the infrastructural components of our home, which are long overdue for both the safety of our members and guests and the operating costs of our residents. Improve the exterior to protect our home and to improve the public image of Sigma Chi. Address the living experience within our home, including common areas worn down over time and in need of upgrades. O ver the last two years, Mu Mu alumni leadership gathered input from alumni, the chapter, architects, and construction professionals. As the project came into focus, there are four major priorities that formed our efforts: Ideal Mu Mu Renovation Timeline* • Summer 2022 – Replace roof, gutter, dormers, second and third floor windows • Summer 2023 – Redo front façade, steps, parking lot, HVAC, security, landscaping, possible technology upgrades • Summer 2024 – Renovate interior spaces on first floor and basement, new furniture, second and third floor bathroom partitions and fixtures • Summer 2025 – Complete any remaining components of project renovation • Fall 2025 – Chapter house rededication as part of 130th anniversary • Summer 2027 – Burning of the retired mortgage *Our schedule is dependent on the pace of pledge payments, construction schedules, materials availability, and other factors. With your help we can complete these important milestones on time (or earlier, if brothers can front-load their commitments). ✓
