I hear people say why is that per- son getting food when they are driv- ing a Cadillac. You don't know what is going on in their life. I was driv- ing a Mercedes one time and doing well with a great income and with all the toys when all of a sudden my income took a dive and I was dig- ging in my couch for change for din- ner. Life can change that fast. I was lucky after a few months to get it back but many people loose their income and don't get it back. They still have all their toys because takes a while to sell them. Also, they could be giving a neigh- bor a ride to the food bank or pick- ing up food for a homebound per- son. Which reminds me, if you know someone who cannot get to the food bank, you can get a proxy letter from them to pick up their food for them. The Quartzsite Transit bus service has free rides to the food bank, just call them at 928-927-4333 ext.3 for details. Did you know you can leave the food bank a gift of money, real es- tate or other items in your will or even designate retirement IRA ac- counts or stock investments to the 501c3 Friends of the Quartzsite Food Bank.
