CURRENT CONCERNS After six decades, our beloved home struggles to meet the current needs of our collegians. Those needs include overall modernization to the house infrastructure, a severe weather Safe Room, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and redesign of the interior spaces to meet the changing lifestyle of our collegians and maintain our competitive edge in recruitment. JOURNEY TO THE REBUILD CHC formed a building committee in Fall 2019 to evaluate the best approach to renovating the chapter house. A needs assessment and feasibility study was commissioned and an architect engaged to design renovation plans and determine a cost estimate. In the spring of 2020, COVID-19 hit and renovation plans were put on pause. During this time, both CHC and the Alumnae Advisory Committee (AAC) focused their efforts on ensuring our collegians were equipped to face the concerns of the pandemic, adapting to remote learning and adjusting to COVID-19 protocol at the Pi Phi house. In the fall of 2021, CHC revisited the plan to renovate. Since 2019, the landscape of the OSU Greek community had visibly changed with new construction to renovate or replace more aging fraternity and sorority houses. This prompted our building committee to consider the possibility of a rebuild. After receiving new cost estimates for both options, CHC determined the decision to rebuild a new home was critical for the long-term success of Oklahoma Beta. CONTINUING OUR EXCELLENCE Moving the project forward, Oklahoma Beta is working with our contractor team to break ground in May 2023 on a new chapter house. Our collegians desire to continue the homey feel of the current Pi Phi house. The new house will be a Modern European classic design with interiors reflecting a timeless casual elegance. Functional rooms have been designed to accommodate energetic groups as well as small niches for study and quiet times. Our chapter room will serve as a practice room for shows and double as a storm shelter. We will have an elevator and ADA-compliant bathrooms on all floors. All bedrooms will be located on the second and third floors away from public spaces with secured access to members only. Beautiful landscaping will enhance our outdoor living and dining spaces, including our signature swing. While our memories of the current Pi Phi house will always remain, there is an exciting and vibrant future ahead for 324 S. Cleveland Street. We encourage you to visit the chapter house throughout this next year before construction begins in May 2023 and hope that you will be able to join us for a dedication ceremony in Fall 2024. BUILDING FOR OUR NEXT GENERATION O ur Pi Phi home is the cornerstone of the Oklahoma Beta experience, providing a home away from home and a gathering place for collegians and alumnae alike. With generous and ongoing financial support, the Chapter House Corporation (CHC) has worked diligently to be good stewards of our home and has continued to make improvements over the years.
