be resolved and moved forward. I believe that the chapter's success during Steve's time as AVC President is a product of the unyielding expectation that Oregon Alpha be nothing less than the best. By virtue of his own leadership and action, Steve set the bar high and challenged us all to meet it. Current AVC President Gavin Brown (91-1389) confirms Steve's legacy of expectations for the chapter and alumni. Countless examples of Steve's commitment and contribution exist. He served not only as AVC president, but he was also a source for all systems fraternal: editor of the chapter newsletter, HVAC consultant, property manager, etc. When an electrician was called in to work, he received a two-page list of action items with issue, location, history, and suggested solution. Steve's consistent, caring attention has ensured Oregon Alpha's well-being and success for decades and has provided a great foundation for Oregon Alpha's future. Brother Cook, we applaud you, appreciate you, and look forward to recognizing you in person at Oregon Alpha's next alumni gathering next year. In the interim, we "Hail Thee Brother." 2 OREGON ALPH A Oregon Alpha Thanks Steve Cook (76-969) (Continued from page 1) From left: Steve Cook (76-969), his father, Don Cook (50-423), and son, Aaron Cook (04-1740). Don passed away on June 24, in his 95th year. An Oregon Alphan for life. I n November, Brothers Chris Achterman (69-809), David Cutsforth (69-821), Steve Cook (76-969), and Ken Maddox (75-962) worked with the planning and guidance of Craig Lehmann (69-831) to completely update Oregon Alpha's first-floor lavatories and enhance those on the second and third floors. Consistent with other Lehman efforts, plans had been refined and supplies ordered months in advance. Lighting, sinks, toilets, and fixtures were replaced and upgraded. A vanity was added with commercial treatment for garbage. The image above shows the finished work, complete with artwork reflecting the Willamette River drainage. Three days of work were required to complete the tasks. Recently, when SigEp Headquarters property management staff visited the chapter house, they noted that the condition of the public areas of the house were good, on par with many of the sorority properties they visited. This Spring during Mom's Weekend, undergraduates reported how their mothers were impressed with the lavatories. Always nice to receive the "Mom's Stamp of Approval."
