THETA THETA CHAPTER OF SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY | UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN | SUMMER 2022 O ne of the many rewarding parts of being on the House Corporation is the opportunity to interact with the undergraduate Chapter on a regular basis. At our monthly meetings, we get to know the consul, quaestor, and house manager along with the interactions with other the Chapter's officers throughout the year. We love getting to see the quality of guys that are running the Chapter and representing Sigma Chi on Michigan's campus. Almost every term, the House Corporation is contacted by alumni who have a son, nephew, or family friend coming to campus who wants to learn more about what Theta Theta has to offer. It feels great to confidently recommend our Chapter. For as long as I have known, our house has continued to be a diverse group representing different temperaments, talents, and convictions as stated in the Spirit of Sigma Chi. During I-week, alumni have an opportunity to participate and interview the pledges as they prepare for initiation. One of the questions we ask them is why they chose Sigma Chi among the many chapters on campus. A consistent response over the years is that our brothers sincerely cared to learn about them during recruitment and they could recognize the genuine friendships among our guys—which felt different than other fraternities. This leads to lifelong bonds many of us enjoy to this day, and it is what we hope for men joining Theta Theta today. One of the areas our undergraduates plan to put more emphasis on over the next few years is creating more opportunities for interaction with alumni. In addition to Homecoming, they are discussing other annual events. Whether it's a golf outing, barbecue, or career night, we hope you will make plans to attend and take advantage of the chance to meet the brothers responsible for our undergraduate experience at Michigan. In Hoc, Dan Page '87 dpage345@gmail.com (248) 568-6340 M arv Nyren '57 entered Chapter Eternal on January 27, 2022, surrounded by his family. Marv loved nothing more than football Saturdays in Ann Arbor with his friends, many of whom were Sigs, and family. Those Saturdays will be missed but will be great memories that we can have forever. Marv is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Phoebe, as well as four children, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Marv was introduced to Phoebe, a Delta Gamma at Michigan, by his freshman roommate and great friend, Terry Barr '57. His family was everything to him. While at Michigan, he played football, along with many other Theta Thetas. Sigma Chi meant so much to him. Not only am I a Theta Theta, but my son, David Jr. is as well. A LEGACY TO BE PROUD OF Theta Theta Remains a Top-Tier Chapter on Campus Chapter Eternal David, David Jr., and Marv on initiation day by David Nyren '86
